I would also consider the Ice Attack 1.375. Friend has it on his 1200 shorty and it made a huge difference. I had it on my Xrs and was impressed

A one inch lug on a 1200 shortie sure sounds inadequate to me. Being a very conservative trail rider though, I'd probably be looking at a 1.25" ice ripper. I'm worried the 1.25" unstudded track on the GSX-SE's I just ordered won't hook up very well but at least I'll give those tracks a season, probably be "o.k." but not very impressive. I wouldn't ever want to go to 1.5" for groomed trail riding for fear of hyfax and cooling issues.

Just because someone makes their sled loud doesn't mean trails are closing. I can make my sled as loud as i want to. I'm half tempted to run the loudest set of pipes I can just to irritate people

I have run a 1 1/2 on my 2005 Polaris XC without any cooling problems and a couple of the guys I run with also run 1 1/2's. I think that is a nice depth of track and it does not tear up the trails like a 1 3/4 does.

We run a lot of stubble fields and tree lines and the 1 1 /4 standard rip saw tracks work very well in our conditions. Not too many guys are swapping them out for deeper lugs on the 136/137 tracks.

The 1 inch tracks are a whole different story and are a waste of money on a new sled of any horse power in my opinion.

The 1.5 standard Ripsaw style in a 2 ply works great and if you want to wait until late summer early fall the new RipSaw II is going to be offered in a 2 ply as well however this will be by far the best 1.25 lug track for these 1200's.

I have a 1.5" Charger on my 2012 and a 1.25"Ripsaw on my 2011. The 1.5" is by far a better hookup. No issues with cooling or hyfax.

I would choose the Cobra over the Ripsaw any day. Had the ripsaws and converted to the Cobra. Much better all around track, especially off trail.

I pulled the 1" off right away and put a Cobra on. Big improvement over the stocker. Sad there isn't more offerings than your choice of the Rips, not a fan of them........

Is this true for people who ordered ice ripper options it comes with 1" block strip for tunnel protector and middle stripe front heat exchanger straight from the factory ? If so nice option instead of driving you crazy by having snow flap off, new rivets , etc

For hard pack snow go with 1.5" Ripsaw, Cobra outperforms Ripsaw only in loose snow conditions or torn up field racing. If I was to replace track on my XR my choice would be 1.5" Ripsaw over Cobra to achieve better bite in hardpack. Don't be afraid of the 1.5" lugs being to tall the 1200 motor needs serious traction to take advantage of the torque, especially a shorty.. Either choice will be a significant improvement over the 1" lugs you currently have. IMHO, the 1" track does not even belong on a 1200..

Agreed about the 1 inch track. It's useless on the 1200s (and probably many other sleds too).

thanks to all comments, went with the cobra 1.352. don't think there was a wrong choice, went with cobra cause would like to avoid getting stuck the few times i do decide to go in the deeper stuff. consensus was the cobra was definitely better in deep stuff and close to the ripsaw on hardback. little cheaper too, at least where i was looking.
