I ran Amsoil in my SRX and had no issues that I am aware of other than it created a powerful smell if you were being me. I would foul my middle plug every season but they may have been normal on the triple. I tried to run Amsoil in my Mercury outboard and it fouled the plugs quickly and the engine ran poorly so I stopped after one tank. When I bought a new ETEC 600 I was told to just run the BRP semi syn (full syn for the 800 ETEC). I have had no issues by running the BRP oil at all in the sled. I read a write up in a recent Snowmobile magazine regarding the BRP oils vs. the 3rd party oils when running them in a Ski Doo and that "confirmed" the guidance I was given to just run BRP oils. Perhaps it had some marketing fluff in there, perhaps not. In the end, even if I were to go through 5 gallons of oil every season (unlikely for me), the price difference to not run the BRP oil doesn't make it worth the percieved risk.

In the end run what you are comfortable with because every machine eventually breaks. At that point, regardless of who's oil, who's gas, who's grease you've been using, you want to feel that the decisions you made did not contribute to the mechanical failure that is now in front of you.

Baught a spair sled this year 06 500ss that had been run on amsoil went down with 5500mi piston broke, wrist pin had a .010 grove wore in it. crank was bad. Took to a dootalk sponser for rebuild and he said he never seen one that bad. So I asked him what he thought of amsoil. He said he LOVES it brings me lots of bisness. Oh ya had to pry rave valves out with 2ft pry bar. I will never run it. Have always used BRP oil. Got 15000mi on a 670 with mineral oil. SKI-DOO or DON'T

The AMSOIL did not cause your problems with your 500ss motor..Kind funny i have a 600SDI with over 8000 mi never touched runs fine.have a 500ss that i rebuilt top end on at 10,152 mi because of piston ring locator pin and could still see cross hatch in the jugs and no not just in the bottom of the jug.I have also never had a problem with dirty or sticking rave valve. Both sleds ran on amsoil the 500ss was even broke in on amsoil the 600 sdi had about a half of tank of doo oil at break in and was toped of with amsoil. And i would not be afraid to run in in a etec i know plenty of guys that are with no issues and it will not void your warranty. In all honesty we would probably be just as well off to run mineral oil in all the 2 stroke sleds. :revinmotion:

if i dont have any bacon grease to use in my sleds i usually blend all the different brands of oil together and run it...after 64,148 thousand miles without opening my motor i think i found the right oil

Yeah I always run doo oil. That's what my dealer sells and I figure if I every have an engine warranty problem and I'm using doo oil I won't have a problem. Just kind of an extra precaution.

When the 600-X burned down at 500 miles I actually had a dealer ask his mechanic if it was Doo oil. It was.

Pretty sure he was going to try and make an issue out of it.

I stopped going there after the mechanic told me that my number plate voided the warranty. I told him that they were nothing more than graphics, which they were. I was 40 years old and 260+ pounds...that would be one heck of a nasty site on the race track.

The one here in town is pretty good. Had the best new sled prices outta the three dealers I checked out. Bought my cub cadet mower and snowblower from there too.
My shed has a nice black/yellow thing going on.

I have the zero turn rider. Looks like a regular lawn tractor but is wider for the sidehill we have and doesn't nose dive like a regular zero turn would. They quit making that model last year.
