Hey guys, I'm buying an 05 summit rev 800. It has a 144 track. My 02 summit has a 151. Would I be able to swap the rail out of the skids so I can have the longer track on the newer rev sled?

Thanks Dan

You're gonna have to drill new holes for the rear arm but they will work. It's about a 3" difference if I remember correctly.

Is everything else the same? Shapewise and overall length??

I think so... Story goes I bought some 151 rails from a 04 summit a guy was parting out. Got em home and mounting holes for the rear arm were too far back. *%@! So lined up my 144 rails and just put 2 new holes in each one. Everything else looked exactly the same rail cap initial angle all the way to the adjusters. A friend recently bought a 151 zx and I noticed the c-c was longer than my rev (eyeball gauge) so I figured they must have been zx rails.

Sounds like a potential shot in the dark...i would hold the two right side by side and compare. I know the p/n's are different

you also have to trim the front of the rails to clear the extrovert drivers...I put a set of 03 151 rails under my 04 440 and I had to drill some new holes for the mountings and cut about 1 inch off the front of the rails so the drivers wouldnt hit

I wouldn't go bigger than a 146 without the extension but some guys will just bend up the snowflap and tie it up straight back then you can go as long as you want. If you get an extension, my advice is for a 162 that way if you want to go longer later you can...
I did not trim my rail tips but just compare the two side by side I bet that the fronts are exactly the same
FYI the coolers are different as well I took my 144 cooler out and replaced it with a 151 cooler when I did mine.
The gears should swap from the zx to the rev if they aren't the same ratio already also.

i would doubt it, but??? the coolers are definately different so the hole patterns are probably not the same. there are some guys on here who have made their own extensions all you need is a saw and some aluminum plate and a bar for the bumper. some of them actually look really good and probably cost less than buying one.
not sure on this either, but the zx might be a 15 wide track not sure when ski doo went to the 16 wide. 15 will fit in a rev but will 16 wide fit in the zx?

I'm putting a 16 wide in my zx. Looks like a couple bolts in the tunnel need to be ground down a bit. It's close but will go.

Woddy's right. Unless you're only going 2-3" (1-1.5 on the ground) you need an extension. Granted some guys have done it and say it works, it's wrong. On a bottom-out-landing, you'll damage your tunnel. SLP makes a nice extension that looks factory. I'm near certain that the zx tunnel is more narrow than the zx. Actually I know it is...we put a 16 wide in a zx last year and had do be very precise when installing the drivers and all steal brackets needed to be removed, partly due to the rivets.
