the 600,700 or 800 twin would be my choice. are you going to oval or just drag? i can help you with the setups ( have had lots of zx sleds for watercross)My friend is buying a Zx chassis that used to have an 800 in it, we are looking for good engine choices to drop in it for watercross, possibly thinking a 6/8 or a Tripple motor, and what else would be good to set this sled up for watercross?

oh that triple will scream if you dial it in right and sound amazing doing it.......but the twin will save weightI'm not sure but possiblly both ovals and drags. I was thinking any of the twins too but really would like to try a tripple but Idk how that would go on the water.

Getting the ZX seamed is actually a very easy job. In my opinion the best way is to take the bottom pan off rivet by rivet and put some sealer between the chassis and the panel. If you just put the sealer on top of the joint it will most likely come off very soon! Also tape / blank the stabilizer arm and other unnecessary holes from the bottom (I used 1mm aluminium sheet with rivets and/or sikaflex. And don't forget to put some tape on the clutch-hatch seams on the belly pan!
You also have to get the water off from the engine bay and especially underneath the clutches. I drilled a couple of holes under the clutch and made a ''splash panel'' so the water would not get in from underneath the sled during the runs. I also blocked the clutch side footcase (not sure is that a right term ) with a rubber mat and good old sikaflex!
Not sure how you guys do this in far there but with these mods I have kept my clutches dry
Here's a couple of pics from the last summer with the mighty 617 rotary engine
