You can load many profiles, I have one for sledding, one for ATV, one for my truck/car, one for hiking. all with different set ups, maps Speed trip meter Different way points topo for hiking and one push and you get what you want. Three versions of the Montana so look at what fits you best. I got one with a camera so I don't need to take one if I don't want to. It is also compatible with marine maps and you can add depth finder. Its just a grate unit.

I have an etrex Vista HCx and its does a great job tracking my routes and in a pinch I can use it for finding shortcuts but typically the screen is a bit too small to get the details I want.
Another person we ride with has a large screen GPS that would typically be used in a car. It did a great job and with the large screen size he could actually look down and see the intersections coming up.
I could also see myself using it in my Truck or while hiking.

Ski-Doo has spec'd out the Garmin Montana in its 2013 Accessory catalog which is kind of pricey however, I'm sure any number of GPS units can mount to the new GPS Glove box extension with an appropriate cradle like those from RAM Mount.
I got a Montana 650T last fall from Ebay. Paid less than list price.
Used RAM mounts from GPS City.com
And a powered cradle mount.
Very nice unit. It can do ALOT!
Will work off of sled power, 3 AAA batts, or a rechargeable lithium batt that it comes with.
I put a "Y" in and run it off of the same plug as my visor heater.
Use just one profile that I run all the time.
Me's simple and I work better that way ;-)
Have used the unit in Jeeps, cars, sleds, motorcycles and Blackhawks.
(it will even tell you how high you are off the ground, pretty accurate too!)
I also have a 60CSx, 2 Rino 530CSx, 1 Rino 130. 1 Pilot III
Kinda like Garmin. Got my 1st one in 1993.
Is it snow yet?

I am using the Montana 650T and like it very much, good choice by Ski Doo and a great mounting option for the new body work. I use RAM mount parts and bolt it right to the dash on my 2012 4 tec 1200. I put a small metal plate on the backside to try to keep the flexing down, no cracks after 4700 miles last season.
