My riding buddy was on the lake this week, apparently NYS is so hard up for money now that they are issueing tickets for speeding on the lake now.

If I didn't love this area soo much Id sell the house and property and get out of this money grabbing sorry excuse for a state...

Just an FYI... does as you please, I know If they were gonna get me for a ticket on the lake, before it was over they'd have more than one to write... Not that I condone breaking the law, but they need to back off.

I was actually ran down by two sheriff's while traveling down the trail at 35mph in barns corners. The one sheriff pulled along my side while the other was behind me then the one cut in front of me and stuck the brake....the reason...my registration sticker was on the tunnel and not on the cowl. After checking licence/registration and insurance they promply wrote me a ticket. I wasn't speeding...I wasn't drinking....I wasn't lippy..my registration sticker was in the wrong spot. I feel it's harassment...PRICKS!!!

This is not a new topic and something everyone should be aware of. I am not trying to bust your balls, but you are in the wrong according to NYS....my advice is to relocate your sticker (as I did on all my sleds) or continue to get hassled. Don't give them a reason to pull you over.

Unreal, running you down (like a criminal) for having your registration sticker in the wrong spot! That was dangerous and stupid move on their part for a minor infraction. If I were you, I would write a letter to their boss:

Michael Carpinelli, Sheriff
Lewis County Sheriff's Department
Outer Stowe Street
Lowville, NY 13367

When the NYSSA lobbied for the 55 MPH speed limit they told us this would not apply to lakes, as a frozen body of water is NOT a trail.

That's the way I understand it also, apparently there are some rogue officers making up laws to suit there needs. If it's 55 on a lake for a sled what about the airplanes that land on the lake on ski's.... think they could run them down on take off to ticket them???
