Blue thanks for getting back. I understand what you are saying and I will check those things. Nothing is burnt because when I put the motor back in I tied that stuff away from the muffler. The reason I asked about the light being still on is the original sensor was not even in the zip code for the ohm spec and the new one was right on. So that tells me i do have at least a bad sensor. While I m on here I have another question. When the dealer had it on the buds he said there was another upgrade to my mapping that I should install. I declinded because I didnt know if that would be a better maping or not from what I have. I have the original 07 low alt. map. Thanksi would check the wiring from ECU to the sensor. Check it with an ohm meter. Also check both leads for open or shorted together. The wires run close to muffler so they can get melted.

Okay my BUDS software was not running since my older computer decided to take a vacation or retirement. I could not ask my dealer for this info since they have closed shop due to the economic situation. My high school son bailed dad out in about 15 minutes ( I have been playing with this for a couple of months of and on) and my system is now active.
Here is what BUDS tells the dealer to troubleshoot for your fault.
Check for disconnected exhaust gas temperature sensor.
Check the exhaust temperature sensor for 215 to 225 ohms at 19 to 21°C (66 to 70°F).
Replace the sensor if necessary.
Check system circuits DA-10 for continuity to terminal 2 of the EGTS connector and DA-26 for continuity to terminal 1 of the EGTS connector.
Check circuits DA-10 and DA-26 for continuity to ground.
Okay so now you are asking yourself what is DA-10 and DA-26. I may be able to help with this. Here is a pic of the wiring harness plug to the ECM. The numbering system is shown in pic. Be carefull not damage these terminals as this is easily done if not being extremely careful. I would check this plug at a minimum as this could have been damaged during your engine re-install. They make a special plug on terminal checking tool but it is not necessary. Hope this helps.

I ohmed the wires from the sensor to esu and everything is good. Took it back to dealer t see if maybe it need to be cleared. That did not work. The code is po428 which is a open curcuit(high voltage). So Im thinking that when that sensor went it took out that curcuit in ecu. So I guess im looking for a ecu. Anyone have a good one they want to sell? ThanksOkay my BUDS software was not running since my older computer decided to take a vacation or retirement. The fact that the ECU is showing the fault probably means the ECU is functioning properly.
You should check the ECU side of the harness plug for a bent or damaged contact. They do bend easily.

Thanks blue i will look into that. Just a note even though this sled has allot of miles on it and I have tinkered with allot , allot of stuff was never messed with. The esu until checking for this problem had never been unplugged since new. It still has the original 07 mapping in it also, that was also one of my questions should I have the updated mapping put in since the dealer told me that there was one available? The fact that the ECU is showing the fault probably means the ECU is functioning properly.

There is no updated mapping except for the mid-altitude map.

Ok now this just through me for a loop. So I ohmed everything again, checked all connections. Everything checks out- light still on. So I decided to check to see how the ecm operated. I cut the plug off of the old sensor and bared some wire to hook up a volt meter. fired up sled and one wire showed it was my 5 volt reference and the other one ground so that tells me the ecm is dooing what it suppose to doo. And both circuits come on when started and went off after shutting down. So the ecm is working so is it still saying its open??? Im siiting on the sled thinking about whats going on and i start it, the lights still and just pulled out the dess to stall it- plugged it back in restarted and light is out. The idle came back down nice smooth light is OUT.??????????Now when it was at the dealer and they tried with the budds to clear it it would not clear. Tryed it several times and light is still out. Thanks everyone for their input. Blue, both dealers that had the budds hooked to it said that there was an updated mapping??? I passed both times for them to down load because its running good they way it is I donnt need to regret any change that is made that I would not be able to go back to the old mapping. Specially since you say there is no up date. I t would be interesting to find out what one it is. Ill ask my dealer. Thanks
When you talk with dealer, ask them which version of BUDS they are using & if it gives "more details" on this update. Dealer couldn't clear code because wiring issue was still there???
