Well not brand new but with only 300 miles it is darn close!

I always said I would like to own a brand new 1000 Sdi and know what I know now. This sled already has uni filters and my fuel pressure gauge kit. My question to the rest of the guys that have been here since day one is what would you do to this sled to ensure longevity? I am curious about fuel mapping as I am not a big fan of the 07 mid altitude map, what other mods would you guys do to make it live a long healthy life? I would like to break my 14,500 mile mark on a 1000 sdi. Thanks in advance

It would be nice if you guys could help me put together a check list of things to do to it. You know one that covers all of the little quirks the 05's had. I am doing a few more preventative things to it right now and had the secondary off and remembered all the rollers that came loose and trashed secondarys!!!!

The ECM would accept it but I think you would need to find someone that has a older version of Buds to do it ... I may still have the original 05 Map 611 saved .. but again you would need to have the old version of Buds to upload it.

1) Premix additional oil.
2) Always run fresh 91 octane gas with StarTron.
3) Set up the clutches correctly to avoid belt failure and over rev.
4) Take the muffler off before you fog it at the end of the season.
5) Make sure the engine reaches correct operating temperatures (they tend to run too cool).
6) Run BRP's new blend of Fully Synthetic injection oil.
7) Avoid sustained wide open throttle operation and when you do open it and go fast, bring the speed down gradually to avoid chopping the oil supply too rapidly on a still revving engine.
8) After every ride inspect the throttle cable and oil cable for fraying and dirt build up around the oil pump arm
9) Once per pre-season, send the injector solenoids out for sonically cleaning and bench tests.
10) Once per 3000 miles perform a pressure decay test and compression test.
11) Never lend your Mach Z.
C'est moi le grand fou !

Quick question....... Why would I take the muffler off before fogging, also what is the proper procedure for fogging a sdi since there is technically no fuel rinsing the excess oil off of the throttle bodies and reeds?

Nice find. Once you've scanned it then you'll know mileage & hrs. One concern would be how was it stored over it's lifespan. Unheated drastic temperature fluctuations will rust internals. Agree with the Doctors points 3,4,5,7& 11 with opinions on 4 will change depending on storage,5 warm before riding which he may mean,7 no problems here in 2,000'+ range maybe he means much more or we've been lucky. You probably have extra injectors so mix & match for even flow. 05 should still be possible, just takes a little begging. Worst case would be to copy another with appropriate software. Lots of things will come back to you during wrenching. Don't forget ring gear, tighten brake rotor, flywheel, harness rub points, grounds, check pigtail harness spot weld, torque cylinders more & leak test motor, Y pipe integrity, inspect hp pump intake screens etc. etc.

Don't forget ring gear, tighten brake rotor, flywheel, harness rub points, grounds, check pigtail harness spot weld, torque cylinders more & leak test motor, Y pipe integrity, inspect hp pump intake screens etc. etc.

In 5 I mean check the cooling system to make sure the engine isn't running too cool. Many failures on Mach Z's due to over efficient cooling causing poor oil distribution. The reason to remove the muffler is to avoid the lower chamber from filling with storage oil and debris eventually restricting the engine exhaust flow. Premixing can help when the system over fuels to protect against Deto. Additional fuel without oil isn't conducive with longevity. Were talking a target of high endurance milage. I've managed 25,000 kilometers & counting on a '99 Mach 1, 700 unopened following a few of the above steps.

I think there is a much bigger list and most of the items mentioned can be tossed. Are you making this a performance sled or a Sunday driver????? Remember your signature. This girl is now a woman and the costs have risen.

The Thumb has very good points.

Black Toys is always a huge help.

Turbo has the best suggestions. KYFC :o
