Hey DooTalkers,

The past 18 months, we've been giving more information and news than ever before on our blog, Elevation, and on the Ski-Doo Mountain Facebook page. We are following a lot of what goes on here on DooTalk, too.

As you know, the 2013 model year is coming up fast. We are doing our planning for these sites (and DooTalk) for the next year, and wanted to know what you would like to see from us. How can we help you get more from your sleds? How can we help you become a better rider? Chats? Articles on maintenance tricks? Videos on advanced riding techniques? Cool places and cooler people to ride with? More stuff like the Gear Tester program?

Everyone on here is pretty intense Ski-Doo sledders and we want to know what you'd like to see.

And YES, we follow DooTalk very closely - NO, we can't basically reverse-engineer our sleds for you. ;)

Thanks for your feedback and thanks for loving Ski-Doo!

WE ARE LOOKING MORE FOR COMMUNICATIONS IDEAS THIS TIME – BLOG POSTS, YOUTUBE VIDEOS, FACEBOOK CONTENT – MORE THAN PRODUCT IDEAS.

It would be great if you had better people working in your contact centre. Also, It would be great if I didn't have to wait for 5000kms to get my engine fixed. Still love my Doo, even though it's life span is shortPosted Image

The Gear Tester program is great, I think Doo is way ahead of other manufacturers in that sense. The mountain blog is great with maintenance tips and riding techniques. Also, please make it snow.

Matt

being part of Dootalk and knowing you are interested in riders opinions is huge in my book.

Thanks!

How about Stock, Floating secondary clutch, not have to buy the parts and put on after, and better, Mountian Specific clutching on Summits. Not a "all Around" setup that works ok on trails and Mtns? Basically, make a Summit truly a MTN sled. $16K I pay for my 2011 and I've put thousands in it to make it perform like it should.

How about something for fellow Doo riders to weigh in on their fixes to a stock Doo. Issues that most all of us have had with a new sled. Stuff that should be from the factory in most guys opinion.

Then BRP can weigh in on some ideas and either use them or not. At least then we know you are listening to your customers. Maybe one of us has a better idea than BRP engineers (say it isn't so) and if nothing else it would help fellow riders out.

Maybe more riders to test out prototypes. Whether it be brand new stuff or upgrades. Everyone rides different and in different areas. That way there is more general ideas and BRP can weigh these pro's and con's and find out what is better for most people. We know you will never please everyone.

Just some ideas. I am sure that I will think of many more.

Admit when you have done something wrong (Fixed QRS) and not turn your back on people that had belt blowing issues because of this.

Don't worry, you don't have to reverse engineer anything, Ther are plenty of us common folk that don't have your dollars for R & D, but are smart enough (or smarter than the big wigs at BRP) to figure out how to fix the problems ourselves.

Tell me where I can send the bill for renburstment for 11 blown belts??? Took me the season of '09 to figure it out. Only took BRP til 2012 to make the shaft 3mm longer...............

Wait...... I just saw this in BRP's sig,.....

"Remember, your dealer is always your first, and best, point of contact about BRP products."

MY dealer did nothing but turn their back on me with my belt blowing issue. Once they got my money, they didn't give two sheets about me. I took the sled to then numerous times to get looked at. It sat for weeks in the SAME spot I parked it, never looked at it. Every week I went in there to buy a belt and gallon of oil and owner would run and hide of give me excuses.

Needless to say I will NEVER buy another sled from them again, even if they gave me 50% off NEVER.

Definately would like the see the chassis stronger than the a-arms, I got a 2012 freeride for it's toughness, I bump a small rock not even hard enough to stop the sled or launch me off and now I have a bent S-module. A-arms are a heck of a lot easier to change out and cheaper than doing chassis parts. Thanks for listening to us doo riders!

powdercoat chassis instead of painting them, paint is already chipping bad on my FreeRide running boards with 450 miles. also on the painted white tunnel offer a white vinyl wrap from the factory to help keep it clean. skidoo handguards and brackets for the shaped bars. love the gear tester program, would love it more if i was picked! :ridedoo:

This might be lengthy...

First off (the suck up) :) I love my Doo. Ever since I can remember, sledding has been my number one pass time for over 30 years. There was a period of time where I didn't own a sled and choose other activities, but I truely missed the smell of 2stroke. I remember going rabbit hunting on my Elan, and my Dad wrenching on the TnT to get it fired up for a night ride, the throttle sticking on the Olympique and piling into a fence post, I likely wasn't 7 years old. All of those memories support my passion for what I do today. My earliest memories were all formed around a Ski-Doo. Okay I admit, I rode a Cat for a few years too. But I came back!

There will be some bashing, prices are too high, never enough snow, yadda yadda yadda, but I am not about to jump on that bandwagon. I choose to ride the sled I do because I enjoy it.

As my friends are mostly all riders, there are some items that we can poke fun at when looking at other brands. One thing my friends and I find amusing is the love for someone like Chris Burandt. He is an ambassador to Polaris in just about every current movie, has his own Polaris line of parts now and so on. There is a such a thing as too much Burandt. Please do not go down that route. Yeah sure, anyone would love to be in his shoes. Yes he is a great rider and promotes the sport well. But its a little much. Moderation.

The Doo ambassadors, who I can only name three, Treadway, Norona and Hoff I believe are decent. Dave is a little over the top, but throws up some decent videos of when he is out riding. The program seems to work, it gets some attention to the brand and isn't over the top like Polaris.

I'll answer in my own opinion some of the questions you asked:

How can we help you get more from your sleds? Riding in the mountains is all about technique, but also rider fatigue. The less fatigued, the better technique the rider can achieve. There is a weight race out there. It sells. People are focusing more on technical riding (maybe thanks to people like Burandt) than trying to climb the biggest, tallest shoot. HP still sells, but a lightweight chassis that can stand up to abuse will sell more.

Articles on maintenance tricks? That is fine and dandy, but for guys who actually do their own maintenance, we invest hundreds if not more into special tools to do this work. I know you don't want to take away specialty work from the dealers but of the dealers I use they are always strapped with finding good shop help. The economy doesn't always support entry level mechanics working on small engines. Maybe ask the dealers if they are happy with the work they are doing. I will always prefer to do my own work as $100/hr shop rates are a little much to chew on sometimes. Thankfully there is warranty! So the maintenance tricks would be basic, belt changes, track tension, spark plugs, most of which can be found on a forum like this.

Videos on advanced riding techniques? I actually saw one of Robb Hoff's recently on youtube. It works, I was jealous of the snow he was riding in, but it works. How about a heavily influenced full length BRP video? Throw together your ambassadors and make a video. It will sell. Pick 3 or 4 riding locations, with a large focus on mountain riding of course, and film away. I am getting a little tired of seeing Polaris...there is a common theme here :)

It was interesting to see the option for wraps on sleds. But leave it to the guys who make wraps. If someone truely wants to personalize their sled, it will be a custom wrap.

Make an "X" that is a step above the rest. Very minor differences now between an X and the SP. Some paint, color, bars and minor suspnsion upgrade for a higer price tag that you won't get in season discounts on. The '07 XRS was a step above. It had its flaws, but it was a step above.

I know I could go on, but I actually have to get back to work and earn some cash to take a week off to go sledding now :ridedoo:

Thanks BRP

Can you make a 100 HP 4-stroke and keep it under 470 LBS..... Please!!!!

Also i think a Burandt type rider people like to watch and follow in the backcountry would be a great tool/marketing strategy.

I really like seeing the manufacturer being interactive with its customers, seems like you guys have been improving with this dramatically over the past year and its still improving, cudos to that. I can defiantly see price of a new sled also being a factor in this tough economy. And also maybe having more customizable options when spring ordering your sled like more color options, accessories, performance options, and stuff like that and also put it into the "Build Your Sled" page on your site so you can see the changes being made to the sled and also get a quote at the end of what it should cost.

I agree with dc on everything but especially on making the "X" sled way better. Fox EVOLS, better skid geometry, maybe a 3" track option, scratchers, upgraded running boards, belt drive, floating secondary, Aerocharged E-TEC... to name just a few possibilities (although I would definitely drop coin on a sled with all the above). Those who can afford the price tag for something worthy of calling it an "X" will pay for it and that leaves the the SP, which is still a great sled, for everyone else.
