Well, it's been a depressing start to the season for the southern vermont riders... I have never riden north of the manchester/stratton area in vermont. Where can I trailer sleds to in the next week or two where there is some decent riding worth trailering sleds to? I hear Island pond, but where in particular? and where are good places to stay and go? If you have been up there and know the conditions please post. If it's not worth going, i will just summerize sleds and pray for more white gold next season. I'm tired off bouncing of rocks. I may just go to canada if we don't get any snow in next few weeks... this really blows.. i'm soo glad i didn't buy a new sled....

Rode IP yesterday for my first time out and the condition were actually good to excellent. we rode down around Rt1 to the radar tower and all the way up to avril. Heard there isnt much snow in norton so stayed away from there and the same with canaan. Talked to some people that rode up from burke and said that was all good with a few thin spots but very much passable! Alot of ice and icy corners but once you get out in the mountains it is great! Glad I made the trip wish I could of stayed the weekend. Traffic was light to moderate( which was a surprise) got busy in and out of the pond. Alot of cops so make sure you have your paperwork!

Rode out of Burke Saturday. Riding was ok to good with some very good. Main trails like 114 got beat up. Lots of sleds around. Most parking lots I passed were full. Large enough area you will not see that many sleds but the trails will show it. Can get bad around gas and road crossings. Trail 5 out of Burke going south stunk until we got up in elevation.

Lots of ICE and some washouts so hold the speed down. Expect ICE, grass, rocks, and some water but overall good day. 178 miles total.

Another warm up next week so not sure if the snow will make it. It was very thin in some places.

Just ride north from Island Pond and once in the higher elevations (about 7 or 8 miles) you be much happier than anyone who is sitting home! I have 1265 miles on my new sled this year thru several 3 to 4 hour trailer trips(each way - got home last night after midnight just to get in a full days riding in IP) but it beats not riding at all. The higher elevations north of IP are good but higher elevations in Pittsburg NH and even toward the Rangely ME trail system was much better. Gotta go where the snow is!

I have tomorrow off and given Friday/Saturday's snowfall totals there has to be some more trails open now. Jay peak alone got 28"-33"! I live in the Burlington area; let's post some trail updates in your area or where you rode

Stayed in Island Pond this weekend... rode Fri (before the storm... not great!).... and Saturday... they got around 8-12" depending on location and elevation.... trails were awesome South and East of island Pond believe it or not... A LOT of Sheriffs in the wildlife refuge ticketing everybody!! Radar guns out... nailing you if your over 35mph!!!

Tails in and out of I.P. and Canaan were still a little icy, but I'm sure they got out there and groomed last night and they're better now.... Great time besides the Sheriffs and their tickets!

Tried to ride Belvidere (118)today but turned back after realizing not a good idea to try to break trail by myself (passed a groomer on the way back so maybe cleared now).Good amount of snow in Jay and Montgomery.
