I am not to happy with ski-doo for not covering the cost of re-flashing my 800 etec before I even had 20 miles on it. Died three times going down the trail and wouldn't start back up for 10+ minutes. Took it to the local ski-doo dealer near where we were staying and they checked it out and re-flashed it and it worked fine after that. Cost me $40 and two hours sitting at the dealer because they said ski-doo wouldn't pay for it. Then on top of that my dealer charged me for for an update even though I said it was already done! Not happy! My dad and I have been buying ski-doo sleds since the early 90's and we are about done screwing around with them. We're thinking about a new Yamaha nitro as our next sleds. IMO Yamaha has better costumer service then BRP. I've been riding Yamaha jet ski's since 04 now and never had a single issue with one of them compared to our sea-doo's that have been in the garage more then on the water. Already jumped ship from sea-doo might do the same with sleds. We currently own three XP's and they might all become blue real soon. Well we might only have to buy two new ones because we shouldn't need a backup sled when were on Yamaha's! lol

Just needing to vent a little but will definitely have to think about jumping ship when I want to replace my sled in a few years. I hate the thought of riding a four stroke sled but it might just come down to it if we have more problems with ski-doo in the future.

^^^Have you ridden a Nytro!? Your dealer is a joke! Really blows that you're having bad luck though, that's a lot of money, you would think it'd be dang near perfect for their premier sled and that much cash!

yeah, It just rubs me the wrong way when you have to deal with issues that BRP should just take care of no questions asked! I know the nytro will not be near as light or have near as much power as my 800 but I can't say I'd own any other sleds besides Yamaha or Ski-doo. For the 16k I have spent on ski-doo stuff this year alone I could buy a nytro and put a turbo on it and have a pretty awesome sled I would think. Ski-doo just thinks they can do whatever they want because they have the best sled. Well you might be loosing two costumers that buy new sleds every few years because your costumer service is not what it should be in my opinion!

well i for one completely understand you right now.. and just my luck as soon as i jump ship, brp sleds will be all fixed with no issues and the best thing out there once again but i`m willing to take that chance cause i`ve been laying enough of my chances on the table for brp

You obviously haven't spent any time on the Cat forum then. More problems there than guys complaining here about XRS's . They ALL have issues and the ALL have riders who are at a minimum, partly at fault but won't admit any blame imo. You should absolutely switch brands if you think the oner your riding isn't any good. That's what makes them act. :shrug

Aren't the 800s kinda known for engine problems? Why did you buy one? Not being smart, seriously, why?

Because anything less just isn't even close to being as fun!

Sounds like you need to find a dealer that has much better customer service.

You guys have DEALER issues as much or more than BRP issues. Being charged for a re-flash??? Really????? Then charged again??? Someone it double dipping IMO.

To the OP; was your sled re-flashed as required? Did you mention your suspension issue to your dealer and have it looked at? In the past some shocks have been known to not be fully charged. On the issues you have now have you been denied a warranty claim or are they fixing it?

Speaking from my own personal dealings with sled issues, and I've had a few, believe me when I say BRP has some of the very best customer service there is - the key is your dealer, as they are the ones who make it happen - or not.

Here is a great example; my '09 Etec did not work as advertised. 11 MPG, 1 qt oil every 100 miles. BRP bent over backwards to make it right, I had a dealer that didn't keep up with the new tech. After fighting through the season trying to work with my former dealer I changed dealerships. 1 trip to the new dealer and my sled was fixed. Unfortunately for me it was seasons end and I couldn't be sure it was fixed so I traded it - and BRP made it right with me.

Far too often BRP gets thrown under the bus. They can only step in when the dealer asks them to. Service is important guys, keep that in mind when buying your new sleds. Lowest cost isn't always your best value.

The XP is the most fun sled ever made - but I like my XR more.

All the issues with these Shi-Doos. Everyone is quick to jump on the bandwagon and bash Cat's new sled and how Shi-Doos never have any problems, the 800 etech is a hit or miss POS.

BRP sucked when I was dealing with them on my new 500ss a couple years back!! It leaned out twice in the same season under "WARRANTY" and they would not compensate my dealer for a loaner so he would not give me one as he wouldnt be reimbursed!! I can understand the dealers point!! He said that BRP was brutal to deal with that it's there way of or the highway!! He carries them amd sells a ton as he is the only DOO dealer nearby!

dear brp i hope you are reading this..

Instead of throwing "edit for bad language" at the ONLINE wall...why don't you call customer service and talk to a representative. They will open a case file for you and investigate your situation. They will monitor your dealer's progress and make sure they are taking the necessary steps to resolve all of your issues. They may even give you compensation for your trouble. In my experience they are extremely easy to work with and it really depends on how you attack the issue. Posting a rant on dootalk is certainly a way to vent, but isn't going to help you solve your problems.

I also remember reading about your suspension issue in another topic. YOU didn't take the sled back to the dealer even after you noticed the sled was having suspension issues. How are they supposed to prevent/fix problems which you don't tell them about or let them look into? I understand your frustration but a little common sense goes a long way.
