help getting oil pump cable off Please

Hi,definately not a nb but i cant release the very end of my oil pump cable where it attaches to the arm.Took off c-clip and little washer,engine still in,rotated end of cable around to slot,just wont release all the way.Whats the trick or should i take arm or whole pump off.Thanks in advance,please reply Brad.

Make sure you disconnect the adjustment part first so you can move the cable more freely then i just rotate it and keep pressure on it till it pops out. its just one of those pain in the but things.

I pull the motor.The cable is prolly gonna kink otherwise.I can't install them with out kinking the cable either.Its much easier for me to do all the work on the bench,even the adjustment.Then,I'll check it with a mirror every now and again.

Idid loosen adj. first and twisted in crazy angles trying to get cable off.So if I twist the cable more I should b able to get it out of slot then right?

Maybe the slot is pinched down narrower than the cable.With a screwdriver try and open the slot a bit.
