Just wondering when the 1200 engine hits its stride. I finally felt comfortable to open it up after the 300 mile mark, then I proceeded to get smoked by my buddys F7. It took forever to reach 80 mph and topped out around 90 mph. What gives? I thought the 1200's reached 105-110 mph. I love the powerplant but expected more on the top end.
Sleds to date:
2009 MXZ TNT 1200 4Tec
2004 MXZ Adrenaline 800 H.O.
1997 Formula 500 Deluxe
1987 Phazer 500

The break in depends on how you've ridden it but you should be running more than that. Is that GPS speed?
Ever been into the clutches?
Yes your at low miles but the springs take a set, roller and arm pins tend to bind with inactivity. Time for a good cleaning & inspection.
Good gas?
Track & chain tensions set correctly? Loose is fast on the track unless you're studded.
Skid free?
You can lead a man to knowledge..........but you can't make him THINK

If you won't stand behind our troops....feel free to stand in front of em !

God bless America and the farmer that feeds your fat arse !!

Paddle faster, I hear banjos

on my second, had a 09 tnt an got a 11 gade x both would not go past 90-93 for the first 400 miles but after 600-700 miles got better. by 900 they are all set, sorry they take alot long to break in than a two stroke but its well worth it. an f-7 is crazy fast and new sleds that come out are put to the test against them!! a good going f-7 will be a good race, once yours is broken in. my 09 would do 112 on the lake on the speedo not gps.

I had 20 miles on hit 106 on pond and now 360+ miles on and don't have trouble getting past 90+ mph that's with 148 studs

300 miles on my 2011 GSX.
Hit 107 (on dash TOP SPD recorder) on plowed road this weekend before shutting her down - maybe had a little left (but no more road!).
She gets up to 90 in a hurry.
Something doesn't seem right with yours.

My 10 X shorty is an even match for my buddies Sno Pro F7's. Take off close but a 1-2 sled advantage to the F7 I believe because of more studs, lighter and a 128 track. Midrange is all 1200 and then even on top end. They are not even close if twisties are involved and you know how to keep corner speed.
107-108MPH is my usuall top speed but my best on hard pack with wind in my back was 114MPH on speedo. Sled is stock except for 84 studs.

I just hit 113 on the speedo this weekend with my 2011 gade with 160 miles on it, with at this time a very loose track. I was on a ice covered road. I also have 144, 1.50 studs in it. I had it doing a 100 a few times at the 15 mile mark on a groomed trail railroad bed. On my 2010 shorty with 400 miles on it, it had a 1" track, no studs and I hit 119 on the speedo a few times...

There is something wrong with yours if you can only hit a 90-95 on the speedo. But, to see its true potential, you need to get about a 1000-1200 miles on it.

Mine struggled to get past 90 or so in the begining but I didnt want to hold it open for any length of time either. now with 800 miles on it I just hit 106 on the speedo. Thats on groomed railroad grade. It definatly got faster
