First I want to thank Mike and Brock at Ice Age for all the help in getting me the rails I needed for this project. Their customer service is second to none for sure and their rails are top notch. I also want to thank Mr. J for crashing Mt Monster II and selling me the stock track off Mt Monster III. I also want to thank my wife for letting me buy off on this project and to chris1077 for helping me put everything together.

In the beginning, I had a 2005 Summit 800 HO with a 144 track. I had been toying with the idea of trying to stretch it out to a 151 but I wanted a 2.25 lug and they were kind of hard to find. Then when I got the opportunity to pick up a brand new 154 track off a 2011 Summit I had to jump on it. So with xmas came new 154 rails with a 9” offset made to fit REV suspension. A set of Avid 8 tooth drivers with a 2.82 pitch and a set of Avid 9” wheels. Then for an extra surprise I got a set of Smitty800 drop brackets.

So I got my sled in and yanked out the suspension, and drive shaft. There is quite a difference between the two tracks and drivers. The old suspension bolted right on with no trouble and looks really good with the new rails, wheels and drop brackets. The drop brackets make it allot easier to install the rear suspension too. In the big picture everything went back together reasonably easy.

For a test ride I took the sled to Petersville's bottomless powder, where we were able to find some really good powder to play in. I need to adjust my rear center shock because the front end felt really heavy. All in all I think once I get everything dialed in this will be a very good modification.

Racnooc, looks good. We'll have to ride together some time. I have the same sled as you Blue /Yellow 05 800 that I stretched from 144 to 151. I just dropped from 10 tooth to 9 tooth drivers. I took a tree between the ski about 2 weeks ago at P-ville under flat light conditions. Got it all back together except was waiting for the new A-arm to arrive when I left for work.

Nice job. Those rails do look awesome. I'd love a set anodized orange. What did they cost you if you don't mind my asking

they heavy ski feel might be both from the drop brackets you put on, and just the longer track. looks like you might need a tunnel extension? might wheelie over backwards!

i really hope it isnt the drop brackets. i have a ton of clearence between the track and tunnel and i would like to keep it. i really didnt want to get a tunnel extension but it looks like i might need one.

Well after having this mod now for 2 and a half months all i can say i should have done this a lot sooner. This was for sure worth the time and effort it took to get every thing dialed in. After the ride in soft spring snow on Friday and being able to keep up with Mr. J and Highlife i would recomend this mod. I went places my 144 track would never have made it too. There were several spots where i was like no way will this sled make it but with the 154 track it didnt even slow down. It is just a little harder to boondock with but it does side hill allot better. If anyone is looking for a summer upgrade to thier sled this should be it. I cant wait for the "secret" area to open up, with any luck we will still be riding there in June.

im looking at doing the same to an 05 800.

what was the total cost in lenthening the skid?

did you end up doing the tunnel extension?

when you change the drivers is that kinda the same as re-gearing?

i wish i saw your thread before i posted the same crap

thanks Dan
