OK. I'm new to the Mach 1000 but not sleds. I've done some research and understand the wiring, fuel pump and belt dust issues. My question is how long will a motor last without uni filters (as long as with unifilters) and has anyone ever used a bore scope to inspect a crank (yes, but can't see much), if so what should I look for(I assume no belt dust or crude)( any discoloration of rods). The sled has 4000 miles and a new short block was installed at 2000 miles. What should one idle at that is set up proper (1900 to 2000 RPM) and how much noise should the balance shaft (none unless you are listening with some type of device) make. Any other tips would be appreciated.
Thanks
John
Look at piston skirts, check runout on crankshaft, check torque on cylinder head bolts, check phasing of crankshaft, make sure oil pump setting is high enough,
There should be no mechanical noise coming from engine. If so, you have an issue that has to be addressed.
