There's also a trail marked as "limited" just north of the 401, but I'm pretty sure there's no snow there either (it was 7ºC last night when I was out working on my truck in the driveway). I wonder what they would say if I dropped my sled on the grassy trail and went for a rip?

It's better to keep your mouth shut and let everybody think you are stupid, then to open your mouth and prove it.

I noticed last night soem of the trails up around Pemmy are limited now. Like from Pemmy to Whitney and some up towards Deep River and Rolphton. Wouldn't want to be on those during the weekend... it'd be a traffic jam.
Some of those trails will probably will be pretty brown by the end of the weekend if they don't get some more snow first. All it takes is a few "heating rocks" to get kicked up into the sun and then the snow gets thin in a hurry.
It feels like late October here today. Wish I was near the "limited" trail right now so I could take a picture for you guys!

I've seen down here the trail be bare but listed as limited, and then it would get cold and a few flurries and it would go to closed!

Maybe the OFSC was desparate to show some open Km's on the MAP! LOL shows 3800+km today but wonder how much of it is in legit riding condition?

So if where in the world is the trail status map updated? I thought the local clubs fed the info to the OFSC who then updated the info? Apparently there's a problem with accurate info being displayed on the site. I'm a member of the L&A Ridge Runners and GSX is right there is no snow on #103 near Kingston! I have messaged our club president to see what's up!

Wanna go for a rip tonight? Meet at Coronation and Taylor-Kidd?
I'm sure Loyalist Township council will be thrilled with that given all the stupid by-laws!

http://www.ofsc.on.c...ail-status.html mentions that the maps are updated on Mondays and Thursdays. Being a volunteer club I'm sure people can understand that the trail status won't be accurate to the minute they are viewing it.
I can understand and respect the fact that updates come in only at certain times based on volunteer input, but we have no snow at all! The most we've had on the ground at one time was maybe 2", and that's pushing it, so there's no way the trails would have been opened at any time. If they want people to rely on this interactive map, then they need to make sure to double check the updates. Seeing that, I start questioning the validity of the trails being marked "limited" further north. Do you trust the map enough to trailer 3 hours away? That's my concern.

That is how it has always been done, but the OFSC has stipulated that it can and will be updated as soon as info comes in.
Some clubs have their own websites that get immediate update, the OFSC wants everyone to go along with their trail updates, but the OFSC one is quite often not updated!
As Brutus stated, do you want to trailer a couple of hours to ride on what is listed as limited to open, only to find nothing but dirt and rocks? Makes alot of peeps wonder about any of the validity of the interactive trail map!

Now check the OFSC map and look at the trails around Calabogie. See a difference?
I emailed the Calabogie club to ask them what's up. I'll let y'all know if I get a response.
Just thought I'd share as this is the kind of thing that's causing me to lose faith in this interactive map. I love the concept and I know people are working hard to make it work right, but they need to make sure everything jives. We were thinking about heading up towards Calabogie from Mazinaw tomorrow, but now we're wondering if it's even worthwhile.

Oh well, guess I need to check two or three sites on top of the OFSC map.
