Got this idea from irondog. Haven't been able to ride yet to see how they do... But from the posts they should work good.

How did you do this? Just a drill bit or something special?
Thanks

Im going to guess there is no filter behind those holes... looks like a 3/8 drill bit...... very nice pattern

IMO rockstar tastes like an ashtray.. When tuned right, Monster will add more throttle burps per second than Rockstar.

Hope you didn't whack it too hard...I sure am glad I had the lid on or it could have hurt...

I am a cabinet maker and i made a template out of 1/8'' plywood and drilled holes with a drill press... the hole is 3/16'' and they are a 1/4'' apart from each other. I screwed the template to the panels and then drilled. And tripplez no there is no filters behind the holes... I have read a lot on here about doing this and irondog rides in the mountains and has done this to his sleds with no problems of snow getting in. i only trail ride so i am not worried about the snow if there is any at all that will enter....

Thanks for the props lildoug.

You can get a piece of perforated mesh from your local hardware store. I use a step drill, it makes a nice clean hole - better then a standard twist drill.

Okay I read all 4 pages of the link to the other thread provided, and still didn't see if there was any mesh over the drilled holes or if there was any other holes in the front portion.

If my understanding is correct the only thing done was the addition of the 3/16ths holes drilled with the perforated template, and removal of all the foam. The natural air flow through the existing stock vents provides all the necessary air movement to drive the heated air out through the drilled holes. Correct?

I already have JC's vent but if this is as simple as this I'll pass it on to my buddy on his TNT

That's it, just 3/16" holes - no mesh covering the holes - no holes in the front of the panels. These just let the hot air out and the air coming in through the nose and hood flow through the engine compartment. You can feel the hot air on your knees.

This has been working on my sleds since 2004, they let a lot of hot air out, don't clog or plug up like mesh screen filters do.
