I've been working on a buddies 05 GSX 600ho for a few seasons now. Last year I replaced pistons, rings, gaskets & reed boots. This season I replaced the track, some hardware, clickers and then decide to check out the engine.
I noticed when he pulled into my garage his idle was high, something it never did last year, so I assumed air leaks. I was right and found the reed boots were loose on the carbs. Easy fix! I decided to make sure the carbs were synched while I was there and thats when I noticed the carb slides are tinted green. *%@?
What would cause this? I know the fuel here does have a slight green tint, and we did have the sled on it's side for 20 mins or so this summer inspecting the suspension and track.
On another note, is it common for manifold to jug gaskets to blow? I replaced them last year, cleaned everything properly and loctited the bolts and both bottoms of the gaskets blew out. Also noticed the manifold to pipe connection is leaky too. What gives?
Green tinted carb slides?

They're coated that way to help keep them from sticking, if the coating starts to go away you may have issues.

Weird that I never noticed it last year.

As far as blowing manifold gaskets i would make shure the y pipe is not warped,if bolts where tight and stayed tight it should not blow, but i have seen some gaskets shrink and need to be retightened.

Warped? Could the manifold be warped because this particular rider will leave his sled idling for extended periods of time and never notices the temp light coming on?
