I believe that responsible votes are gearing up for amazing results. 2014 is tomorrow for those that are preparing for another epic event!

edit - it's a good thing Commander is at his cabin , he would have probably had a stroke without a little decompression before hearing this news :bighair

Posted ImageNo problems, actually was quite prepared for it.

But, as you say, dissapointed is the word , even if I totally understand the reasons behind the decisions I still think it´s the wrong one in the modern world that moves faster and faster.
It wont come cheap in many ways to get back on track after 2 years off without proper training of the organisation, volounteers and all around the race but maybe some other activity 2013 can keep everything smooth .

And for myself, 2 years are a long long time to work on sponsors for sure, to long in my book and it´s no fun at all to get back to the ones already contacted and interested with word for 2014 instead of 2013 and also without knowledge if it will be a yearly event after 2014.

Well, enough of that Posted Image

2 years is 2 long!! I'll drive myself insane before then. Get rid of the gas and grub at the remote checkpoints and save a fortune!! Come on for 2013.

It's been a month since the race and I still can't sleep through the night. I wake up in a cold sweat while I'm wrenching on a clutch or suspension or that bleeping TPS. I was OK while in the Carribean but now that I'm back home and getting in some not so late season riding, I'm reliving CQ 2012 all over again. What a truly amazing experience. World class event hosted by some world class volunteers (and Jackie!!). I have run into many racers over the past few weeks, some that finished and some that didn't. I haven't heard anyone with a bad thing to say about the race. All racers were mailed out a survey lately so I imagine there will be lots of suggestions for the organizers.

Personally, I really like the idea of racer dictated layover times. If a team decides to burn up their layover time early or want to save it for later on then that strategy should be left up to the racers. I would love nothing more than to roll through a checkpoint after 30 hours on the go and have the pleasure of getting ahead of some of the leaders while they are all snuggled up in the bunk. The mind games that could be played would be awesome. Nobody really sleeps at the first layover anyway (I know I didn't sleep much in Goose Bay!)so with the added distraction of teams getting ahead...the rest would be fitful at best. It would be very hard for guys like JG or Rob to get any rest at all if they thought that someone else was getting the slip on them. Take Nain for example. The leaders knew that for the next 10 hours they had absolutely nothing to worry about other than what they would have for breakfast and who was going to weld up their busted up sleds. Imagine if by some miracle, team 5 (Ha Ha) pulled into Nain, checked in, gassed up and headed up the Pearly's. Those guys would be on the computer, phone etc. so fast that they would never get any sleep. Even if they discounted the team that rode through as nothing to worry about...the seed would be planted and there is no way that a competetor like JG could ever go back to sleep. I use these guys as examples only because they are the strongest teams and I now regard them as my friends.

I would also like to get rid of the gas and grub at the remote checkpoints. It really would save alot of money (prize money folks) add to the strategizing and really get back to what I see as the spirit of Cains Quest. Nothing wrong with towing a sled guys. It was great last year and there were sleds this year. No matter what the decisions are for 2014, unless there are serious personal obstacles I'll be there 100%. I can't wait!!

Big Land Racer. sorry in advance but next time don't let your partner consume a 5 hr energy drink a few hours out of a major layover. LOL I'm still laughing at the sight of him wandering around Goosebay in his underwear and Gdam cotton socks when he should have been sleeping. It's not like your next leg of the race would be a walk in the park. Then again a friend once told me George is not happy unless his hair is on FIRE.

I'd have to get him on the rum to sleep the first 2/3 days anyway. I'm not much different though so I can't torment him too much. I recall multiple racers in the hallway in their skivies having a yarn when we pulled in...but then again they had been there for several hours at that point!! We had a fast run from Churchill to Goose so the adrenaline was pumping pretty good. I would have liked to push on to the coast at that point. And that is exactly why I would love to see flexible layovers.

The Quebec Cannonball (I don't think there will be much Labrador in there if it goes) is getting some support. I sure hope that isn't the death of CQ!! I keep hoping against all odds that a little genie will appear and announce that 2013 CQ is a go. Maybe this 2 year wait is all a bad dream??

X2, still sleepin here to

Seriously, there´s gotta be some action 2013 to promote CQ and give opportunity for sponsor display one way or another or else it all will go back to a local race of no big interest for others than just locals and that´s not in line with the overall important visions to promote the Big Land as it deserves.

I´d say as before, "Go Big or Go Home" but I hope that some new modenr thought´s catch the business possibilities and all the spin offs that are possible for brands, local business and not to forget the 1st Nation people

But then, that´s my personal opinion as a sidekick from Sweden but my kinda breed never give in when we know we are rightPosted Image

Guess they decided getting rid of JG and Rob was an easier way to even up the field :wink_old:
