The conditions are almost perfect the whole way around. There is still a bridge or two out between Murdochville and Chandler but it should be fixed in the next week or so. There are still a couple of places that they opened the road, but there is lots of new snow down and there are sleds everywhere!!
Thanks! I am actually waiting for that trail from Chandler north to Murdochville to open as that's part of my planned route. I did notice some sections are now rated as excellent.

Gaspe snow I saw was good in the central mountains with limited riding available: trails were packed by the groomer and the signs were up. the thing about riding up there is there are many loops that take you south of the mountains and north of the mountains and there's not enough snow there to make it worth while to go. i would be looking for another 10" of snow to hit that region before heading up.
matane is about 4" of snow on the ground and no base 1/4/12 with scrub brush and sticks on the trail everywhere.
no problem getting a room, when you are riding around GASPE just follow the signs to the hotels or call the ones who advertise on the back of the trail map. real e z stuff.
