Hi all,

I originally ordered some rather large gauge mounts from Summit that did not even fit between the windshield and the top of the dash. So I decided to make my own. Using 2" ABS. I made the following!

The gauges are held in with Permatex Ultra RTV sealant. I put 2 pea sized dabs about 1/2" from the face of the gauge pods at 3 and 9 o'clock and pushed the gauges in. I decided to make them parallel to the dash instead of level. Gives it a cockpit look. So far around 300km's since the install gauges are still very tight!

Here's the end result.

I made the back from a 2" ABS pipe cut lengthwise. Heated it 250F for around 15 minutes in a toaster oven and clamped it between 2 pieces of plywood. Glued it to my angled 2" pipe and used normal ABS glue which of course cures in a matter of seconds:

The end result is about 3.75" long on the bottom and around 2.5" on the top:

Using quick grips, clamped the two gauge pods together and sanded the bottoms flat so it would sit nice and flat on the dash:

After the flat area was made, I sanded the gauge pods using 80,120,320,400 and 600 grit sand paper (the final 3 are wet) - picture was taken after the 120 grit:

The step which took me forever was painting, I picked Yellow Tremclad as I had it left from making a box for an '09 Tundra. It's winter time and I had no where to use my HVLP sprayer so I used a paint brush. It was way too course so it left marks. I finally used very small brush, and wet sanded using 600 grit between coats. I then polished it using Meguiars car wax (3 coats). Final step was to use Plexus (amazing stuff meant for plastic but it leaves the paint like glass). Attached each gauge pod to the dash using 2 #8 bolts and a middle hole for a wire:

Next step was to install it in the machine, I used the temperature/compass harness plug and ordered the housing and crimp connectors from the dealer. However using my channel-lock crimper it squished the connector a bit and I spent over an hour trying to get them into the housing! Make sure the area around the square hole with the little flags is perfectly square or it won't fit:

The part #s for the housing are in the original REV-XP post on adding a Cyberdyne gauge to the REV-XP:
http://www.dootalk.c...howtopic=283901

I used a 1/8" NPT street tee made by EATON. I few Dootalkers have used this with success without it breaking instead off like when using a 1/4" NPT fitting with reducers. Well it leaked like crazy (sensor threads - the 90 degree elbow nor the motor thread never leaked). So I wrote Ccyberdyne and they of course couldn't help (they're gauges aren't meant for snowmobiles is what they said). So I put 2.5" wraps of RED Teflon Tape on the fitting and using a plastic hose re-enforced with thread and pressurised it to 50PSI. It held for over 2 hours with the green food coloured water. There was NO way to stop it from leaking without the Teflon tape:

I mounted it to the same location as on the REVS with the 90 degree elbow on the EATON fitting with the Cyberdyne sensor screwed into the top. The ground is 100%, and the gauge works fine. I tested it using the lowest resolution on my Ohm meter and it was a short between the sensor housing and the engine block:

Looks great. How did you mount the gauges in your pods? Did you glue them in?

I knew I forgot something :) I updated the first post

The gauges are held in with Permatex Ultra RTV sealant. I put 2 pea sized dabs about 1/2" from the face of the gauge pods at 3 and 9 o'clock and pushed the gauges in.

I'm going to request the thread be moved to the REV-XP forum, doesn't really make sense to be here!

Those look very slick.......

IMO rockstar tastes like an ashtray.. When tuned right, Monster will add more throttle burps per second than Rockstar.

Hope you didn't whack it too hard...I sure am glad I had the lid on or it could have hurt...

Yep mounts look as good as the day I installed them. The ABS joints did not crack.. the paint looks mint as well. The air temp gauge is missing part of the centre digit... No big deal.. But some temperatures I have to guess the temp :)

Where did you mount the ambient air temp sensor? I mounted one under the handle bar steering cap on a REV a few years ago and it always read a little high after sled warmed up. I think engine heat just followed up the column. Yours still look good. And yea, I lost an LED bar on the water temp gauge after a couple of seasons.
