It's all in reading the parts before you run them over.

Wondering the same. 3"-6" base doesnt sound like much...
Don't be content with average, because average is just as close to the bottom as it is to the top.

We got 10-12" on Monday night, I was out Tuesday right after the groomer and the trail was perfect. Now I was only a few miles north of Duluth so I can not report on the entire trail up through Two Harbors and beyond but it should be alright. Way more snow than the DNR is reporting on the site linked above by Buggy1, not sure what data they are using or when it was last updated. Northshore trail is G2G.

I've been out a few times, took the whole family out today. Main trails(state and grant)are pretty good, trail from town and the side trails still have a good amount of brush poking through. We've been running the forest service roads since thanksgiving. The min maint and forest roads are currently the best riding up here right now.

Anybody been out yet today to see what the rain has done? Or was it more snow on the North Shore yesterday?

I was up the north shore trail this weekend. It was perfect, flat, white and soft enough to turn and cool. We are expecting 6 more inches tonight. The rain over new years killed a lot of off trail riding, made the trail base real good though.

The rain made it better! Awesome thick strong base with lots of snow. Been snowing an inch+ each day this week.

Just a heads up to anyone traveling up to the North Shore Trail this weekend (Jan 29-30) The John Beargrease Sled-dog Marathon starts on Sunday. This means that Fri, Sat, and Sun, you will have extra traffic on the trails. The mushers are in town so the trails are already populated by the lil doggies, and the person being dragged behind.

Just a heads up, so you are not caught off guard...slow down and pay attention out there this weekend.

BTW the trail is perfect and we are forecast-ed to get 1-3" on Fri night. :)

Just ran from Duluth to Finland (200 Mi) trails are great, but very busy today. The north shore is amazing, with the snow in all the trees, and flat white trails. See you out there
