All I've been reading from all of you. Has got me pumped up like a kid at Chistmas Eve. Has anyone that has test rode this new 1200 ask what the warrenty and service requirements are going to be on this new 4-stroke. I see there saying 3years or 6600 K on the E-Teck.
Don't get to go on my test rides until March 22, in Kalkaska Michigan.

Change oil and filter once every 1865 miles/3000 km or once a season. Oil filter change is a snap.
Valve adjustment every 12,500 miles/20,000 km.
Warranty not set for 09s.

At that frequency, every 3000 km, if an ETec is using the same quantity (or a L less but that cost is compensated for by the need for an approx. $10 filter) of oil in 1500 km, then the operating cost is about $40 more (for 4 more L of approx. $10/L oil). That is peanuts indeed.
Valve adjustment, on the other hand, are so infrequent that it is not something to be held against the 4S.
More and more, the only choice to make seems to be engine durability/reliability. If I can be sold on that, I'll buy one. My other concern was the low end torque of the bit 1050 and 1170 triples compared to the 600 ETec, but I believe that if they made a larger displacement ETec like an 800R or even a 900R or 1000R, the ETec may have closer or similar low end torque. Anybody know, and compared an 800R or 1000 SDI torque and hp curves to a Nytro or this 1200? I would love to know what the difference is off idle and at low rpms like 4,500 rpm - 5,500 or 6,000 rpm. That is where I love to ride. The motor is not stressed, and neither is the belt etc., and you are barely touching the flipper. On the 1200, if indeed they engage at much less than 4,000 rpm, like perhaps 3,000 rpm I forget what I read, but the torque off idle at these 3,500 rpm to 4,000 rpm speeds would be nice to know too. If a 1000R ETec can generate such low rpm torque, and ETec is near as durable, maybe......I want the ETec due to the weight for sure (I know, a 1000 ETec, if the same weight as the 1000 SDI, may not be all that much lighter than the 1200, like maybe only 35 pounds lighter even if the 1200 has elec. start and it doesn't).
