The S-2000 steering shaft works, but the upper mount hoop. The bar that goes around the gastank and holds the upper of the steering shaft. That needs to be from the z chassis to go around the ZX tank properly

OK, Been a couple months, and I have done some CHANGES. Well, to the back half that is. Time and Finances would not let me build another tunnel, so I had to modify the existing one. I made a 1" square tubing hoop, braced it with 1/2" OD seamless thickwall tubing and made a wicked Powder Coated top. Also Powdercoated my Primary clutch Black. No pics yet of that. and I Ceramic coated my Jaws pipes. The ceramic was expired, so it does not polish up nice, but still functions the same. Running the sled on the stand, when the head gets warm enough to evap water off it, you can still hold your hand directly on the belly of the pipe. Extreme difference.

Heres a side shot. I also powder coated the seat trim panels in wrinkle black, same as the Doo Bar riser. Riveted it to the seat frame, looks good with the alum rivets I think. Originally had it 3M taped, but the darn tape would keep coming off

Here you can see the flames. I just washed the sled, so you cant see the detail, but the base it a metalic black, which I then masked and powdercoated the flames in a Silver vein. then I covered the whole thing in a translucent red. Made the black turn to cherry black, and the silver vein looks like Lava now. Looks awesome in the sunlight. I'll see if I can get some piks when the sun moves around.

Aside from having too many colours for my liking, that is a wicked looking beast. I love those old machines, though I can hardly ride them anymore after getting used to the REV. I would look into getting the orange taken off the seat. I'm sure you guys have a descent seamstress in 100mile that would do it for cheap. To me the red ski hoops stand out too much, being so much brighter than the other reds. I would rather have them black. And the yellow wheels would look cooler, either black or a nice chrome inside kit.

The riser and bars look mean on there. I'm impressed with the flame job on the back too. I am always skeptical with flames, but you made them look good. That red looks good with the black.

Is that the stock suspension? 16" track? Extros yet?

I'm sorry if those are redundant questions. I don't have time to rip through the 11 pages. LOL.

How did your running boards hold up. Could you post a close up of how they connect to the tunnel and what not. I have some ideas brewing for next year on how Id like to modify my existing tunnel and put on wider running boards.
Just because you have a wrap on your sled doesn't mean you have a mod sled.

I agree on the to many colors, But, it kinda got wrecked last year. Was red/black. The back tunnel was not strong enough when I missed a "ditch" with 5g gas on the back. So, thats why I did the flame panel this year. No time/funds to redo whole thing. PLus, its kinda advertisement for my PC Biz.

Seamstress, YA right..........I checked the local guy, he wanted $400 to change the orange to black, and stitch extra panels to where the riveted tank side panels are. I laughed. Thats why I made the Alum side panels. I will eventually recover the seat, I got the seat fro $75 off Dootalk here, so cant complain.

Extro's YUP, they are installed. GOt a set from Maize583 here cheap too. He acctually was the inspiration for this sled build. His Mountian Madness sled.

Track is a 151"x2"x15" Camo. 144" 05 REV skid, set back 4" to fit the track.

The Idlers, Yes are the ;last thing to change. I am acctually Milling out Idlers as I Type this. I ahve a CNC mill here at home, Just a little one. Im doing 8 smaller idlers and 4 7" wheels. Only be using 2 of each on my sled, So others will be up for grabs. Pics to come. they are about halfway through milling right now. My mill is small, and slow LOL

MZI, I just Riveted the running board to the tunnel. The edge of the board is Aluminum Angle Iron. just used Solid Alum rivets. The ones you use a air hammer to peen. BUt, regular blind POP rivets will work just fine. Use steel tivets though, pref stainless steel so they dont rust. Plated will rust over time

There's a post on here somewhere telling how to get the color off the seat. I want to say they used goo gone or something similar.

Oh yeah. The "ditch incident" would explain some mis-matched parts. LOL. What can you do?

Let me know when you get thsoe idlers finished up. I might be interested in them, if you don't want too much for them. I have the same yellow ones you have, and it would be amazing to get rid of them. I tried to peel the yellow off one that cracked. It didn't go as planned. LOL.

Anyways, again, good job on the sled. I'm impressed.

If you or any of the other guys close by want to make a trip to Quesnel for the Rememberance day weekend let me know. It'd be sweet to get a few Doo talkers out.

That would be amazing. I have a lot of orange on my sled, so it doesn't look that bad, but I think it would look better with a full black seat. Especially if it's cheap. LOL.

You bet there is!!! The 11th falls on Tuesday this year, so I'll be out there the weekend before, and hopefully that monday we well. Yank's Peak has relatively few rocks, and always has the most snow around. I know guys who are riding up there by mid-late October, so by mid November there is lots of snow. Always a lot of pow to chew, and a couple hills to climb.

It makes a great first ride of the year.

That's more in the ballpark. It might be worth your while to give a call to some places in Willy's Puddle to see if someone could do it for a descent price.
