Not to start a debate, but here is my newly wrapped and sealed stock exhaust. It's so simple yet keeps temps down so it's worth it to me. Amazon has black fiberglass 2" x 50' for only $13 with the stainless ties. Its the same stuff I wrapped my mbrp header with last year, but about $20 cheaper.

I kinda wished my 1200 gave me some heat. I rode a friend 2002 polaris 800 and was quite toasty warm.

What benefit does wrapping have? It looks great though.

Keep the temps down, cooler clutches, cooler intake

Won't this cause the pipe to rust out?

I see a lot of guys on here wrapping their 1200 exhaust, mostly headers and I've always wondered what real life benefits it offers.
I get it keeps under hood temps down, but I don't get what benefit that nets.
I get it makes your clutches run cooler, but if I'm not blowing belts, well - who cares.

Until I see negative results from heat I'm holding off. That's coming from a guy who has the wrap & hi-temp coating sitting here on the shelf.
I just don't get it, but again I've never experienced heat issues...that I know of.

Do you really pick up performance, or what are you accomplishing by doing it?
I was told to wrap my header by many knowledgeable 1200 guys & like I said I even bought all the stuff. So far I've been too busy to do it, but the more I think about it the more I'm questioning if I really NEED to do it.
