I'm starting to put some plans together for a February saddlebag trip from central Wisconsin to St. Ignace, MI.  Does anybody know the approximate milage from Munising to St. Ignace?  Thanks!

Depending on the route. If you go through Paradise, it's about 200 or so.

Yep--What Wink1 said.

We went from St. Ignace to Munising and the mileage was 225. That was with a couple of wrong turns added in.

Thanks guys, sounds good.  I'd like to keep our daily milage between 200-250 so coming in from the west I think we'll lay up in Munising then make it in to St. Ignace the following day followed by a day on Mackinac Island (pending ice conditions).

We're usually on the trail by 5:00 am and only stop for gas and lunch.  We don't ride like maniacs, just a good steady pace so Munising to St. Ignace will be a perfect leg.  Thanks again guys!

A whole day on the Island and you'll be bored to tears. Two hours would be plenty.

May want to consider a jaunt to Drummond Island. Take the ferry across(runs all year) and if your brave enough leave from Drummond Island to St. Joesph Island in Canada. I think it' plus or minus 20 miles across the ice. I think it is marked with Christmas trees to follow.

I've never made that run. The pucker factor is a bit to much for me being on the ice that long. St. Ignace to Mackinac is bad enough and it's only a little over 4 miles across.

If you're going to be close to Paradise, might as well stop at the Tahquamenon Falls and Brewery. It's a bit of a hike to the falls but worth seeing if you enjoy scenery. The Brewery has great food. I really like the sausage sandwich.

The view of the bridge in my sig is from behind the Super 8 in St. Ignace. You have that view from your room if you stay in the rooms on the lake side of the hotel.

Two hours on the island is enough?  Good to know that ahead of time so I didn't plan a whole day for it...thanks!  That'll give us some time to go to the falls and try the sausage sandwich at the brewery...can I put it on your tab???? :laugh_old:

Thanks again for the info on places to stay, eat and visit, I appreciate it.  I'm really looking forward to going somewhere I've never been before.

Sure Ski Dog----You can put it on my account....On account of I'm not gonna pay for it.

Send me a bump when you plan your trip. Good chance our group may be in St. Ignace around that time.

Good one Don, I never heard that one before, I love it!

I'll be sure to give you a shout when we get a final route planned.  Maybe we could hook up and ride for a while or meet up for breakfast/lunch.  Thanks again for the info! :biggrin_old:
