Hi all, I am wondering if there is a thread with pictures or a video on how to add the fuel pump upgrade that Lund suggests? Im a noob when it comes to wiring so anything helps! Thanks.

If you want a more reliable change, delete the pump. This way you won't need to worry about wiring, pump failure, pump relocate, or looking for long complicated threads that depict this ordeal.

Just to note that Machzzzz1 still had trouble with the Facet pump, so he ended-up using the Holley Red for the past several years.

I have the E8012s pump on my sled.  It's been there for at least 5 years.  It has work perfectly since the day I installed it.  I run it from the battery switched through a relay that is controlled through the original power wires. I also have a fail-safe manual switch wired in so that I can turn on the pump without the need for the relay in case of relay failure.

They go down too. Here is the thing, Bill is a Seafoam addict and spikes his coffee with it every morning, while you spread two stroke oil on your toast like Map-O-Spread. Chances are you will get little trouble with your LP even if it under the engine or relocated behind the snow flap. And I've seen your fail-safe when you relocated a supposedly working Mr.Gasket pump when it would only work with a hammer lol

I remember someone telling me their E8012s stopped working. I said ok, just curious why you chose the pump. The answer was that I suggested it. Ehhhh, me??? I had never heard of one failing, and I didn't remember having suggested that particular pump or any pump. But it didn't matter because that is how it came across and that is the one that failed. Then I was asked what to do about it, so I answered that I had had enough of the LP and no longer cared about it. Then I was asked what I would do. Well, after maintaining a 600 SDI for several years with the same HP installed on the factory assembly line, and with all of the endless debates one which pump is best and where to locate it and the best way to wire it, I would delete.

I was just fooling around Mike ;)  Given that both you and Bill have nearly the same pump and relocated in the same area with no trouble thus far, I wouldn't touch it. But I would keep a working Fuel Pressure Gauge and/or Wideband for the time that the LP pump was used. I remember every time I started your MachZ I would look at the gauge and be reassured it was still showing 58 psi  lol

I agree, but I'm starting to think the O2 sensor combined the A/F gauge tells me so much more than a gauge that has proven prone to failure.

That being said, I'll keep the pressure gauge since it has also shown a fuel problem in the past.

My LP pump just gave up on me. Been in the sled since new in 2006 and still located under the engine....6500km. Lookin for a solution. So, basicaly going for the single fuel pump system, is a $600 "upgrade" ? A new OEM LP pump is $120. A used one on Ebay is approx $30-40, and a new Facet Posi-Flow or a E8012S is about the same.

The assembly can't be bought new, so I don't believe that you can reach anywhere near $600. The assembly from a 2004 600 SDI is a $100-$200 if you can find one. So I guess it depends. The idea with putting that topic on DooTalk was to give another option. Without the correct molded bends in the fuel lines I am not sure which route I would take. The 2004 600 SDI that I worked on and got sold last year was still running with the same pump this past 2016/2017. That's now 14 seasons on the same HP pump! They don't fail, so they can be hard to find lol

Ok, i think you need to walk me through whats involved withe the swap. Looking at this part fiche link, http://www.ronniesma...063/fuel-system

Which item/no is needed ? No 15, fuel pump module 15-18 is $600, No 16 is not avalible, and No 17, fuel pump kit is $370. Is it only No16, the fuel pick up that is needed and the stock 1000SDI HP pump can be used, or what ? I havent looked at the fuel tank, but does the HP pump need to be relocated to another possition on the tank ? I would be gratefull if you could provide some good instructions Charles....but if the items needed is hard to find, the i guess i new facet pump is the only way to go :-/

I assume that you mean the orientation of the pump assembly. If so then not to worry there is an arrow pointing towards the front of the engine. Your MachZ has the same arrow that can be seen once the seat is removed.

It's pretty much a Plug&Play type deal other than a couple of necessary corrections.

- Disconnect High and Low pressure fuel lines from High Pressure Fuel Pump Assembly

- Remove large plastic screw and High Pressure Fuel Pump Assembly

- Install the Fuel Pump Assembly from a 2004 600 SDI

- Ensure the proper orientation of both fuel pickups (screen facing down)

- Ensure correct length of hose to the rear fuel pickup (see Single Fuel Pump Topic for details)

- Disassemble Deutsch electrical connector with blade screw driver to match the connector and terminal positions to your MachZ

- Reconnect the High Pressure fuel line.

- Block Fuel Tank exit line exit line from lower portion of the tank securely.

The Low Pressure fuel pump and lines will no longer be needed, but the exit line out of the tank needs to be blocked securely.

Remember to study the Single Fuel Pump Topic to understand the position of the Fuel Pickups.
