So, I'm starting another topic, was wondering what all of you think is ideal. I was thinking of doing the rail and tunnel extension and going to a 136" track, Now that being said how much lug does everyone run? if I go 136" it'll be anywhere from 1.25, to 1.35, to 1.5" So the question then becomes will a 1.5" track fit? and if so is 1.5" track too much?

The 121" with 7/8" track is to short and not enough lug for the riding I do around here.

thanks again guys.

I would not go the extension route. I have rail extensions on our Pro Mod '97 Mach 1 and we have bent two rails back where the extensions start on the suspension. I would rather see you find a suspension out of a 136" sled as they are beefed up a bit right from the start.

I am waiting for a phone call from a friend who is stripping a newer MXZ Renegade 136" and I am buying the suspension out of it complete.

The F chassis does not have a whole lot of clearance between the bulkhead and the track. 1 1/2" would be max track lug height or 1 1/4 " if you are planning to stud the track. At that you have to run the track slightly tighter than normal so nothing hits the bulkhead when decelerating. Roll out of the throttle and don't slam the brakes on at higher speeds if you can help it. Be sure you have the higher tunnel protectors to keep the track and or studs away from the heat exchangers too. Lower the upper track idler wheels in the tunnel to give more clearance between the track and the exchangers if this hasn't been done already. Bulkhead protectors are available but they are a bit of a job to install.

I have a 121" track on my '97 Mach 1 trail sled with a Camoplast Ripsaw 1 1/4" track which is a huge improvement over the original track. The track is not studded. This sled is the one I bought brand new and if I scratched the exchangers or bulkhead I'd cry for days. It's pristine with 2118 miles on it and I intend to keep it looking like new.

If you can't find a suspension I wouldn't be worried about running rail extensions. I have run them on several sleds and never bent rails. I love to tail walk my sleds and jump them.
