I would personally say the winter two or three years ago because we never really had cold temperatures for the entire winter had fan cooled sleds over heating that winter it was bad. But this winter its been a lot colder but on the weather for next week I'm not looking forward to it plus 7 is going to melt a lot of the snow here an if it doesn't melt it turns into a block of ice

Where in "northern" ontario are you talking about? I'm from the Dryden area and it's been -20 - -40 celcius recently and shows no sign of letting up soon.

Last year, though, we had a green christmas and I had to give up ice fishing in early march.

Ha Far West in BC you should be able to get more accurate weather reports since the weather network focuses on ontario more then anywhere else. I had a white christmas just barely tho i had to ride my fan cooled 95 touring 503 because we had such little snow liquid cooled sleds couldnt go out yet

I'm in thunder bay Ontario, and only the last couple of days have been cold enough to keep the ice rinks usable.

Man made global warming used to be somewhat of a joke to me.I'm convinced it's real, and getting worse rapidly. When I was in my 20's,and early 30's I believed it was just a natural cycle, but it's changing so fast it's undeniable. Here on the Minnesota,North Dakota border it's always been cold especially in January. For several years now it's rained at different times in January, last year even had a thunderstorm in February, crazy. As I get older (43) I'm getting more, and more concerned about the future of our planet. For nowith though I just wish I would snow, and blow.I'm getting tired of my youngest son watching snowmobiling on YouTube in out living room. We still have @ 2 months of snow potential so don't give up just yet.One decent storm and western MN will be good again. As for the worst year for sledding, it was last year for me.I made at least 6-8 north shore trips, and one to Wyoming to go sledding. If not I would have only got @100 miles last year.I'm fortunate to not have any sled loans either.I don't think I would ever finance a sled knowing I may not get to use it.

Out here in Minnesota by my parts we barley have had any snow our winters average is 35 degrees. So any snow we get moves fast.

I pretty much put my sled away for the year and looking at 4 wheelers to ride for the rest of the season.

Minnesota winters have been terrible the last three years, this will be the 3rd year in a row I put in trails in November and pull them in March and not even ride on them. We don't ride much locally, but it is still fun to ride and get some local miles on even if it's only a few.

Got to ride 2 days this year so far and that was before Xmas and the first day of winter?? We actually got 3-5" yesterday but it isn't enough to ride. Supposed to be cold the next couple weeks so we will see what happens.....I'm not holding my breath though!!
Last year was the same here locally but the 2 seasons before that were some of the best we have had in years for local riding!!

I have a trip at the end of this month up north for some off trail boondocking and this will be my 8th or 9 th year going and it's always been good up there so my fingers are crossed!! I've had my 05 Summit for 2 years now and have about 12 days on it 😡
