So after some reading, sounds like I've got the trenching track. Big, squared ports, stiff lugs and I'm really good at digging deep holes. I know some of the problem is the rider, but trying to get all the help I can. It's a 2007 151" Summit X. I'd like to buy a new track but don't feel like dumping that much money on one right now. I read online that some guys had cut some of the support off the back of the lugs to make it a little softer. Has anyone on here done this? How was it after? Any pics? I think I'm going to do the 15" track mod so may as well try this while I'm at it.

I found some pics online finally. They are from dootalk but couldn't find them searching, maybe because the thread was from 2008. Here they are for future reference. I may go even a little more aggressive. 9359a5de03a2ea248edccbfab18aa8fc.jpg51a15bb15891ae336f7dfcb80d00694f.jpg

I'm the only one responding to my own post.... but for posthumous reference.... I cut my track today. Used an oscillating multi tool. Tried with a knife first but this was way quicker. Also kind of melted the rubber to "seal" it as I cut; if that's good. Some of the lugs got away from me and I cut deeper than I wanted. But overall I'm happy with the results as it sits on the trailer. It's next to my buddy's rev with a powdermax track and they are equally as flexible. , I'll report back in the next couple days as we are going out in the morning.. Ps. Threw a bonus pic in there of my buddy on a 01 rmk above lake Wenatchee wa. In case anyone reads this. 46526d511072d2641ea7a1226474c8fa.jpg2b40517bdf01f8726c9c73d35c9cc64d.jpg2a4d7ba3a885505fde3416dbc90e0351.jpg

Be interesting to see if you notice a difference. Ebay usually has 151s for decent prices if it doesnt work

I think this helped a lot. Was able to go through stuff easily that before the track cutting, I would've just trenched and sunk. Also able to stop and get going again in deep snow and steep stuff without trenching. Definitely worth doing for anyone that has this track before you buy a new one. 84de135102a1104d0d40729ed921406e.png
