The old forge shootout wasn't exactly a 'long race' and the SW had much better numbers, so there goes that theory.

And you make another good point...why would you want a trail sled that comes with the best shocks money can buy?? Keep those things in the lake!

Lots of reports of them running side-by-side for around 1000' and the Livingston video backs it up...

I don't care what kinda shocks they slap on that garbage can, there's no hiding the weight of a 4-stroke triple with a hair dryer.

Livingston race was a joke.  Like really...  A ripped up dirt road...  A ripped up dirt starting line....  A 60 degree day...    You really think you received good data on how those sleds actually run in those conditions?    Also, the 4 strokes don't wake up until a 1000 miles..

Lots of reports of Bigfoot as well.

How much a sled weighs on a scale is the most overrated measurement in the sport. The worst rider forward trail sled I've ridden was a 600 sport xp. It felt like there was no substance under me and bounced all around. Weight is not always bad.

I have a 16 xrs 800, stock clutching- ripsaw 2 1.5 studded. My buddies dad has a new 850 renegade studded all stock. We raced from a 20 roll up to about 90 multiple times and he always ended up about a sled length or 2 ahead, slowly creeping away the whole time. This year with the new track I do pull about 2-3 sled lengths on my other buddies 13 800 etec renegade,we were about dead even last year.

Cornfused,

Sorry for the off topic, but how is the leg room on your 850. I'm also 6'4"

Leg room is way better than I thought.
I figured I would need pads on the around gas tank but my knees seldom even touch!

I think that everything is relative, when you hear how this new 850 sled with 400 miles on them and they race "a stock 1200 4s or a 800 2s " most of the them have something done to them and they are broken in, and a few have been edged out or side by side, if you took a bone stock sled for sled "17" 800 and 1200 same miles that would give you a true bench mark for the 850, few of us have that opportunity, all I know is this week end I am going to get my 1200 4s with a header and a PB80 clutch with a Cudney clutch set up and do a few test runs to see how the two goes against each other and then I am going to do some minor adjustments to the 850 next week and see how it fairs after that. I know ever sled feels diff. so one could actually be faster even thou it doesn't feel it, but I will be shocked if my 1200 would be even close after 500',

If you Don't start in the morning, you can't drink all day

If your not living on the edge your taking up to much space

I petty anyone that doesn't drink, when they get up in the morning that's the BEST there are going to feel all day

My buddy has has a 16 1200.. I wonder why don't stick a turbo on that instead of the 900 like they got on side by side.. 1200's are quick without turbo so I don't get why they don't
