Not to much love for the 440 in the mountain section.

Factory turbo 850 is likely to make some thumbs tingle though...

I do think they need a smaller *tween* sled.   Even if they have to forgo some of the usual amenities, but they shouldn't need to.

340-440 power plant.

I hear you but get rid of the fans and bring a 440 etec for teens.  440s were great motors

I'd be interested in another 440. XRS, 100 hp like the old race sleds. It would be a great fit in USCC racing, but they may have to de tune it to 85 hp to be legal? Probably not a huge seller though.

There is no 440 class in snowcross racing anymore so you will not see a 440 in the lineup

85 hp is super detuned for a 440 especially if they made a 440 etec. The race 440s before they switched to 600's were over 100hp so why would they go backwards in power? Can't you run a Skidoo ACE ? New technology and the 600 I believe would conform to 85hp class

They actually built a 500 etec, but decided not to introduce it because it cost almost as much to make as the 600 and nobody would likely want to pay the same price for a 500 as the 600.

600 ACE would get smoked! The Yamaha Phazers are easily beat by Cats 500 Sno Pro, and Poo doesn't have anything. I agree with the massive de-tune not making sense, as all my 440s were 100+ HP. I almost bought the Cat last year for cross country, but I couldn't put a program together and can't swing it financially alone. Meaning, the sled is only half the cost of racing, then you may as well through it out after a season of racing, or sell that clapped out pos for cheap, lol.

Heck in the latest Snowgoer the editor talked about the demise of the 600cc engine due to cost. His main point was "Why would you buy a 600 when it cost the same as a 800 or bigger machine?"

Even though I don't like the thought of it, I can totally see this happening.

I personally think the 440 liquid cooled engine is one of the best engines for most riders. Plenty of power great gas mileage and a lot lighter feeling than the larger machines. It fits really good with new and young riders and allows plenty of room for growth over time. My wife for example will not stop riding her 98' ZL 440 even though it is 19 years old.

Unfortunately the manufacturers find it better for their bottom line and I cannot disagree with that.
