I don't know what the stock coolers weigh but the u-cooler should weigh 4 lbs.

Aug 7 2005, 02:32 PM
With each chassis similarly equipped, the weight difference is 20 lbs. Along with the weight difference, other benenfits are a stronger bulkhead and running boards, less snow sticking, more track clearance (both width and height) and of course the bling factor.

Yes. Carbon/kevlar is more resilient than aluminum, and will flex or bend more without damage. I also beef up areas such as the bulkhead and running boards, which are problem areas for the stock chassis.

The base price is 3000.00 cdn. Yes all the stock parts fit, or I can make changes like a "drop and roll", drop brackets, different suspension mounts etc. They come finished and are pretty much a bolt together deal.

Had a greast time weather was very cold, 52 for a high on saturday made me think of winter. I should have my u cooler possibly on Friday or Monday i had to drop and roll the chain case to make the cooler fit, next time i will plan better and not have you not cut holes. I bought the chain case kit from VanAmburg Enterprises it worked very well.

Ya wish I had known. Not much room for the cooler in a stock chaincase setup. Are you using the bulkhead cooler too? What length of U-cooler? Let me know if I can help. Maybe send you some material to fill the holes? I can talk you through it.

Sorry I missed your question powderhound. Thats a good question, but here's the difference between their parts and mine. The racing car parts such as F1 and Cart are made using a process that combines high temperatures and pressure to produce a part that is extremely rigid and lightweight. Because weight is everything, they are engineered to be strong enough for their intended purpose, but they are not designed to crash. The reason it shatters when broken is that they didn't use any Kevlar during construction. For this years season, FIA has required that Kevlar be used during construction to prevent this. I make my parts using a simpler vaccuum bagging process and resins that are more flexible (similar to snowboards/skiis). I incorporate Kevlar in all my parts (and have for years). This produces parts that are lightweight, strong and yet will flex forever without losing it's strength or it's elasticity (aluminums downfall). I've yet to have a composite part fail during use, and have had hoods returned for repair that have survived cartwheeling down an icy slope, and have only required a couple hours repair work. I also don't feel that your comparison between mountain riding and ditchbanging is valid. There has probably been more bent up sleds, radius rods, trailing arms etc. come from riding in the mountains than in any other aspect of snowmobiling. If you are still skeptical, drop me a PM and I will mail you a piece of material which you can compare to a similar piece of aluminum. Hope this answered your question.

Is it possible for you to build a tunnel that would clear a 2.5" 3 pitch and still be able to use the 9 tooth drivers so you do have to go the the 7 tooth? Has this even been tried?

No, I don't think it is possible. When we use the 2.5" track using the stock chaincase there is only about 3/4" clearance. The length of the stock chaincase the problem. If it were modified or an aftermarket one used this would solve the problem. This is the main reason I am going to use the A/C Diamond Drive on my latest chassis. I can drop it down low in the tunnel and gain track to tunnel clearance and also improve the track angle. I will be using the stock M7 9 tooth drivers.
