OK so here I am cruising along at 45 on the last 20 miles of our 120 mile day and the machine just died. First thought ran out of gas. Not the issue tossed in a spare plug and it has spark has gas what else do you need to run? oil tank is full blower belt is intact where should I look from here?

How about compression ?

Have not had a chance to check the compression will do that this week.

I did not mention that the sled had only 449 miles at the start of the day... this was the longest run the machine had ever done in one stretch...

Outdoor temps were in the 30's f all day but it was not till after dark that it quit. I was on a great wide smooth rail bed probably after about 5 miles at 40+ that it quit. I thought it might be overheated but the sledheads in the group though that was unlikely.

Thanks for the input.

Bummed…
Sled has 125psi in right cylinder 50psi in left. Right looks well lubed, left looks clean cylinder scored… Off to the machine shop I guess…

Well I know that on newer fan sleds you are not supposed to ride them when it is above 30. Guess I'm not sure is this applies to the older ones. What is the engine size??

Here's the damage... Just need to find a piston and replacement liner...
