Hi

I was wondering if someone could explain how to change the throttle cable?

I was replacing my bars after a roll over and wasn't paying attention when I snugged up my bars to my riser and I pinched my cable....

It sure looks like a big job to change the oil cable part of the throttle cable.....??

Is it just possible to replace the cable from the flipper to the cable splitter ?

Are there any products for removing and replacing a section of cable?

I've just spent the last 2 hours trying to inspect my oil cable at the motor end as I hear it is a high wear location. I've just about all but given up as it seems you'll just about have to pull the motor to inspect it properly. As afar as I know the oiler cable / throttle cable is all one piece and can only be ordered as such from Doo. Wish you luck. I'm ready to start drinkin out of frustration from working on this thing. I raced dirtbike for 6 years and can do a motor rebuild on a bike blink.gif headbang.gif in less time than its taken me to check a friggin cable out on this thing.

No kidding hey.... I hear ya.... I've been baffled by what it looks like I'm going to have to do to fix this pinched cable all because I was in a bit of a hurry to go for a ride........ Go figure it's dumping...... and I have to do nightshift tonight as well..... I'd love a drink....

So I was hoping the chaincase side was going to be the easiest to go at it.... but it looks like the carbs and boots need to be removed to get the hands in there...... Looks like the seconadry would like to come off to make it easier.... Now I'll have to tear into the chaincsase anyway just to get the secondary off.....

All because I was in a hurry and pinched the dang cable......

I am just a little frustrated to say the least.....

Cheers to you and Happy New Year!!!!

Is there somebody that can share the best way to tackle this cable?

You can see your oil cable by looking through one of the holes between the clutches.

yes, there is no easy way...
dont know if you've gotten there but it is a job to replace...
i remove primary and secondary clutches, secondary bearing tower, carbs (just out of the way), both PTO motor mount bolts and torque stopper plate (low front of engine), then pry engine up with wood or alu block just enough to see/reach oil pump...long needle nose pliers, mechanical fingers, and some patience and luck...my friend did it by removing gas tank but you still need to move engine a little..
of course, the rest is candy: carbs, routing the oil pump cable properly (it gets tight at the MAG intake boot) and setting your oil pump...

Just did mine on my 09 last night, did the same as M.A. only pulled the carbs right out - not that hard since the throttle cable has to come off anyway. Also moved the fuel pump out of the way and pulled all 4 motor mount bolts out and lifted the motor as far as possible with a hoist. Good news is that the replacement cable has a liner in it now - looks like doo has upgraded it.
