there are plenty of places to go just search for sled rentals colorado.no matter where you go there is always the chance of avalanches you just need to be carefull and know what to look for there are sites that you can find on that subject.I have been out here for enough years now and its a blast.one sugestion is tayler park colorado they have cabin rentals and on the web site they have a link to rentals that they will deliver right to the cabin and miles of trails and amazing powder and huge open play areas, they don't do tours but those are boring and exspensive no speed, short rides ect.If you need any info feel free to contact me and we will find something for you, and me and my friend would be happy to guide you if your interested and we will take you places you would never see on a tour and amazing powder we stay away from the crowds.

Even though this is the Colorado forum, the best place to take a family on a sledding vacation is still in my opinion.....West Yellowstone.
Tons of sled rental shops, lots of resteraunts, IMAX theatre, wolf/bear sanctuary to tour in town, and tons of great riding right from your place in nearly any direction.
For more experienced riders my next favorite place is the Big Horns and staying at Bear Lodge. If you don't want to drive that far then the Snowies outside of Laramie WY is great too.
Since I've only ridden in WY and just moved to CO, I can't report on here. I've heard the Rabbit Ears is good and so can the Grand Lake area.
Make sure you get backpacks and carry shovels and emergency stuff as any off trail riding can leave you stranded or stuck.
