I was having problems last year when riding in deep powder. The snow would find its way up under the hood and pack in around the muffler. Got to looking for a solution today and this is what I came up with. Last winter I bought a 2x4 piece of Kydex plastic. It is about a 1/16th of an inch thick and cuts easily with heavy duty shears. It is very workable with a heat gun.

Here is the problem

There is a large gap underneath the hood that allows snow to enter.
Kydex

I cut a 1 inch strip about 20 inches long. Put a 90 degree bend in the middle and trimmed the ends

Four pop rivits and voila!

No more gap
Kydex is great material to work with and you can make all kinds of helpful items for yourself like this intake deflector.

Looks good Mark! Where did you pick the plastic up from.

NOW if we just had a bunch of new snow to 'test' your new mod!

I put the fabric on the inside first but the holes plugged with snow and then ice. Put the fabric on the outside and it works great. This was done before Frogskinz were invented (another million dollar idea of mine down the tubes).

I just can't see putting on expensive painted, wrapped plastic or carbon fiber parts as I have a terrible tendency to murder every Alder bush that I can find. Now, if someone would come out with diamond plate aluminum panels and hood then I may go for that.

May not be much to look at but I sure love pulling up to some hot snot punk on a spiffy looking machine and then leave them behind eating my snow biggrin.gif

I bought it at the Plastic shop behind Evangelo's in Wasilla.

Hey, that looks like it 'll work well! I'm going to try to do it to my sled. Thanks for the post!

WOOHOO!!!

I got to ride today. Short ride out my back door. This modification worked perfectly and I recommend it.

Now, it may not be much to look at BUT I prefer "the natural" look. This is what snomo's are supposed to look like. Sled wraps are for parking lot posers tongue.gif
