My battery was dead this year when I went to start the sled. My question is should that effect my reverse? I didn't think that the battery had anything to do with that.

No reverse usually means lower compression.... Unless the motor hasn't run enough to warm up.

Charge your battery or get a new one. Then you will find your reverse will work.

On my old 550 it would quit when I put it in reverse if it was to cold. Let it warm up maybe that could be it.
