Planning a trip to MN or WI this winter. Live in IA and don't want to travel too far. Wondering where is a good place to ride for 3 days. Also where is a good place to stay on the trail for a reasonable price. Only 2 or 3 of us going. Thanks for your info.

Because snowfall can be pretty iffy at times in both MN and WI, my recommendation would be for Lutsen, or any place near by. There are a lot of smaller hotels right on hwy 61. I have not been there sledding, but have been there skiing several times - they get quite a bit more snow than the rest of MN most years. Do a web search for lutsen and you should get a lot of places that you can check-out. If it's early or mid season and all of MN has good snow, then I'd recommend some place around Mille Lacs Lake, MN, or even closer yet, St. Croix Falls, WI. I've ridden the trials from St. Croix Falls and up north from there - very nice. With either St. Croix or Mille Lacs, you should be able to do a search and find some very reasonable places to stay. Might be a good idea to pull up a google map of each area so you can see the surrounding towns to give you more options on places to stay. Good luck!
