HI, I am looking for input about sprocket changes. Thanks to a fellow doo man, I found a 16 x136x1.25 track for my 06 tundra 300. My question is: should I change to 8t sprockets while the shaft is out for the changeover? I plan on pulling my otter magnum ice shack and maybe another cargo sled behind that, both moderately loaded. Some slush areas, 6" deepest,(hope). When not fishing, I will be off trail, powder riding mostly. Any input is welcome. Thanks.
P.S. I owe you big time Tommc56!!!

I would consider it because that will give you the most flexibility and it is not too expensive. You can always gear back up if you have to in the chain case. But with that track it would not be essential like it is with a 144" x 16 track. You do have the flexibility of lowering the gear ratio by going to a 48T or even a 49T bottom sprocket in the chain case. The stock is a 45T. It also depends on how often you pull a load, your altitude, warm or cold snow, etc. I have the 49T bottom sprocket and the 8T drive sprocket but I ride from 7500 to 13,500 feet mostly and am turning the 144x16 heavier track. I also have the clutch and belt setup for the 06. All of that was necessary to get the track to turn as I felt it should when in extreme conditions.

At work we have 3 06 Tundras that we don't pull sleds with but buck a lot of deep snow. All of those are set up with the primary and secondary clutch modifications, the LMX1095 belt, and a 48T bottom sprocket. One of the 06's has the same track you are about to install. The performance compared to stock is like night and day. All 3 have the stock 9T drive sprocket - we wanted 8T on the 06 with the 136x16 track we had the dealer install as a purchase requirement but they claimed that the 8T would void the warranty (I think they may have ran into an adjustment problem). There is a possibility if you go to an 8T that you will not have enough track adjustment - I had to make some spacers for mine with the 8T in order to have enough adjustment with the 144 track. An 8T will cause a little more bend in the track and thus a little more rolling resistance but I doubt that to be very significant.
