Was thinking about the swap. Question is do you have to change drivers. I hear about people running CE 3.0 on the XP but not the Pclaw. How are they holding up? Can or are u using the stock 2.86 drivers? Or do you need to run 7 tooth? I do have my front cooler removed.
Sorry if this topic has been dealt with already but I couldn't find it.

If it is a 3.0 pitch you can run the stock drivers.

IMO its not worth the effort. I ran one on my XP last year and dont think it was any better than a stock doo track. You can run it with the stock doo drivers. If you are going to get a new track get a 2.5 camo 174.

you can run a 3 inch pitch on a 2.86 driver? realy? I've never heard of that. crazy so you could then run a 2.86 track on a 2.52 pitch
driver???... that sounds like you would loose alot of drag races. hahaha. so many cat guys say that power claw destroys any other track maybe you dont notice the difference because of the slop in the window and results in some hesitation. just my opinion

Did it at least carve/sidehill easier considering they are only 15 wide?
Thanks,

read of quite a few guys on here last season running a 3.0 pitch on 2.86 drivers....diff is only .14 inch....never heard of anybody trying a 2.86 track on 2.52 drivers tho...

3.0 track on 2.86 drivers is known to work. Note that only 1 tooth is contacting the track and carrying load at any given time, instead of several teeth engaging and spreading the load.
What would I expect over time as a downside? Maybe accelerated driver wear and/or tendency to throw clips. Nobody is complaining about either from what I can tell.
2.86 track on 2.52 drivers? Dunno never heard of anyone trying it yet.

I ran my 3' pitch on my 2.86 drivers all year. Swapped out the track over the summer and didnt notice any abnormal wear on the drivers. A 2.86 track on a 2.5 driver? Never heard of anyone trying that.

Go with the camo extreme with the stock pitch then you can't go wrong and it hooks up great. I did the swap and it is fantastic!! If you are going to get a new track go through tracks canada or tracks usa if your in the states, you won't find a better deal. It only took 3 days for my track to come in and I saved myself over 300 bucks from my dealers price.

2.86 to 3.0 is .140"...actually only .070" do to the radious...
2.52 to 2.86 is .340"...now this is enough tocause issues...
IMHO- 15 wide 2.5 is the only answer...BJ

Sorry Big John but to me size matters. I'll take my 16 inches over your 15 inches any day

uh oh....I just bought a new 2.5 x 16w....can you tell us why you feel the 15w is the better choice?
thanks,

Didnt notice any difference with the width 16 vs. 15. Personally I think length is much more imprtant than width on a mountain sled, at least the 15vs16 issue.

The camo extreme 16w has the paddles set in a half inch from the edge on either side there is a little dead space there on outside of track. I find it hard to believe 1/2 of extra track on either side would make the xp carve that much easier. If i knew the camo extreme came with the paddles set in like that i probaly would have gone with the 15w to save some weight maybe 3lbs. Plus the camo extreme 15w comes ported for the polacks and there centre driver didnt want that.

I went with the 16w for much the same reason, if a guy is riding nothing but fluffy pow then porting may be okay, but I think the porting was part of the reason my powdermax tore up so quickly. the 15w is 4 lbs lighter than the 16w, but I like that the paddles are inside the outer edge of the track a bit so they will not have clearance issues on the various bolts and rivets inside the tunnel.

Here is a picture of my Camo Extreme 2.5x16x156 3.0 pitch. The paddles go all the way to the edge of the track. I ran this track all last winter without any problem what so ever.

cool, thanks for the info. do you know if there is a specific reason why they are made like that?
