Hey all you dootalkers, here is your chance to meet up with your forum friends and ride.

Looks like we are heading to Cooke City, MT. Departing from Minneapolis on Feb 14th.

Pick a spot by doing a poll and meet at a destination or load up in a semi and head out to the chosen area.
MomsMotorSports is hauling sleds from Michigan and the surrounding areas all season long.

In Feburay, the 14th-19th we are looking to fill the extended sleeper semi with an entire group. This custom rig will fit 24 sleds and gear aswell as 18 passangers. Lets start piecing a group together.

Lets discuss a few thing about these OR other possible destinations. Suggest another spot and Ill add it to the poll.
Would you ride out in the extended sleeper or fly in and have your own sled and gear waiting for you?

Where is it convienet to fly in and out of? (car rental or shuttles)

Does package pricing for lodging and food play a role in the decision?

Would you rent or bring your own sled?

Feel free to add any suggestions.

It looks like we have two votes for Cooke City, MT, one of my favorite spots.
The steep and deep powder of Cooke can be a joy to ride in however, the area has limited trails and riding areas compared to other destinations.
Package pricing available through Moms, Bear Claw Bakery, and Bobs Super 8 make Cooke City riding very affordable.

We have customers come from thunder bay area, possibly team up and meet the snow express. We leave mid MI and either head north or south depending on where clients are coming from, picking up sleds and people along the way. We often stop in St. Ignace, Across UP, Wisconsin, Minnesota and so on..... arranging pickups along the way, saving you a drive to the mountains.

Dont count yourself out, feel free to ask any questions.......

Sweet Sled Too!!!

Thanks,
I was planning on flying to Revy and renting again this year. But to be honest I posted a simmilar thread on here last year looking to hook up on the Mums ride. How close will you guys be comming to Canada (Sault Ste. Marie border)? I ride quite a bit in the states too, only 40 mins from the MN border, I would trailer as far as Minneapolis or St. Paul area or to the Sue.
You guys going to be near those two areas?

I made this trip several years ago and will say that they're a good bunch of guys. Anybody who's thinking of heading out west really should check this out, because it's one of the cheapest ways to get out there.

Thanks for the positive feedback.
When you coming back out with us?

Unless I find a job real soon, it won't be this year! Frankly, the way the market looks, I'll be lucky to find one by next year.

Someone should check on the MC number for the truck and make sure it has the required insurance. I own a small trucking company and the minimum cargo insurance required is $75,000 which would not cover 24 sleds in the event of an accident. Also make sure their insurance is current with the required $1,000,000 in liability insurance and they are allowed to carry passengers.

This information is public and can be looked up at this site given their MC (motor carrier) number. This will also give
their safety rating, insurance and so on. I would be glad to look them up and interpret the data for you all.

What kind of riding are you going to be doing? We are planning on moving to Colorado in a couple months, but most likely won't have a sled for the deep stuff until next season. Would love to hook up with some fellow Dootalkers for a ride if possible.

Look up the US DOT Numbers while your at it, and you will find a perfect driving record for all their drivers, and Yes, they are fully insured. This is a Liget Trucking Company First, and they do this during winters secondly. A few of Moms Clients are even Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officers, and Beleive me, they have checked things over as well. Feel free to contact them your self if you have any doubt.

Yes, we will haul a back up sled too. Usually we charge a reduced rate if there is room for an extra sled. Sometimes, room is not an issue and a spare can be added for free.

Jump in on the pre christmas ride to TML, before winter hits here.....

good company to send your sleds out with, great way to affordably ride outwest, and meet new people, see new sights.

if you have never went outwest, make the time and spend the money to go. it is worth it.

these are trips of a lifetime. all the destinations, are premier riding areas, with great services. mom's can customize the trip for individuals, our rent the whole rig with your group, and tell them where you want to go. they can do it all. ski

Renting varies by location, and is not part of our service. We only transport sleds and allow riders.
I believe the going rate for mountain sled rental at is around 150-200 per day on average depending on sled and location.

We usually recommend bringing your short track and, thus saving you rental fees for a couple of days if conditions and your sled performance allow.

Transportation fee for sled and gear is 150+60 gallons of fuel at market price=approximately $300
Lodging and food packages with many included ammenities range from =$75-125 per night per person.
Add sled rental cost at 150-200 per day(remember you can bring your own sled)

Those are the average figures... hope this helps

Boy that sounds like fun. What types of things would I need to do to the sled to help insure that I could ride my shorty out there. Currently my only mods are a Cudney Clutch Kit and a 8" bar riser. I currently am running the stock ripsaw track. Oh and I forgot some of my go fast sticker mods
Thanks

Hey WisDOO if your sled has DPM which it should the only thing you would have to do is get a set of adjustable pin weights for the primary they can typically be bought for 30 to 35 dollars several vendors on here sell them I would probably use a little lower primary engagement primary spring might help you not trench as bad if you do go off trail with your sled and there is usually a couple of good sled mechanics that come out on these trips that would be willing to help you with your setup or help if you have problems all it takes is one trip and you will be hooked biggrin.gif

Ya, there is alway a gear head or two on our trips...
Thanks IBREVIN and REV KEV for all the help on trips past.

IBREVIN, wasnt your first trip out on a 136? Ya and I ran a 121 almost all week that december.
It works to take your own sled and see how it performs. Then maybe rent a day or two to do some serious hill climbing.

yep 136 with 1.5 paddle and got around just fine and hell ya you even had the beaver tail on the 03 600 and thats like dragging plywood around behind you so people should not be scared to take their own sled.

I don't know. I brought my Renegade out west and was very disapointed. I know that it was a RT beast, but I was always fighting the sled. Frankly the best part of the trip was when we were ripping down the trails. I did get to try a couple of other sleds when I was out there and was surprised by how easily they would flip on their side. I guess the main problem was that I still had the wide ski stance. The other problem is that the used paddle track that I bought had the lugs bent over so it tended slip. In the end I decided that my sled was an excellent flat-lander machine and that it sucked in the hills. If I went out again, I'd be looking to take a 147 summit with me, but that's only my opinion (based on my greenhorn riding skills).

SPOTS ARE FILLING IN BUT, THE TRUCK IS NOT FULL YET!!!

Spots available throughout the winter season to different destinations.

We are still piecing together a forum ride for the second half of Feburary. The trip date will be either FEB 15th-21st OR FEB 22nd-27th.
Looking like Island Park or Cooke City.

If you want any informaiton or have any questions, pm, ask here, or email us.

There is room for 10-12 sleds and 8-10 riders at this point. A few people are still on the fence still.
My local contact says he has been riding every weekend out there. A good base setting up. Its supposed to dump the week we get in too...
There is another thread with more info on the December trip. Here is the LINK

Let me know if you have any questions.
Nitrousman
So there's only a few spots spoken for now? There could be 2 to 4 of us if I can get them all to commit. 2 of us would probably bring a backup sled if it was still free. Thanks.
