Hi, was out this weekend with 2 new XP's..one worked flawlessly, the other seems to be leaking fuel..running or not, made a mess in buddy's enclosed trailer. When we took it for a quick test rip a couple of weeks ago we noticed it leaking fuel, and it wouldn't start. Tried the usual type stuff, still wouldn't start..then noticed some crap (looked like dead wasps)in the clear line going into the l/f shockmount (i think it is a hose for the DPM)..anyways we cleaned it out, it started and ran fine..put a bout 13 k on...now it's leakin fuel again and can't find the source..anyone else run into this issue?? Just trying to save a trip back to the dealer ohmy.gif

Hi, you may know this already but will throw it out case you don't. A lot of online dealers have the brp parts fiche online. Excellent source to get exploded views of the whole sled. One site is www.jaycoxpowersports.com . I 'm sure there are others. But you can see where that fuel tank gasket is , get the part number and get a pretty good idea of what is involved with fixing it just from the pictures. While you're looking, find the vent check vavles for the fuel tank and the oil injection tank. They have, on occasion caused the tanks to over pressurize, causing some spillage. Last year there were photos on here of sleds burning due to gas leaks get er fixed.

If there's any debris in the fuel system it could get lodged in one of the carb's needle valves causing them to continuously allow fuel to flow, and a hard starting/flooding condition like you described.

Wow, thanx for all responses..we started pulling things apart last nite, could see no leakage..so added more fuel to tank and low and behold, there was fuel running out again..from the fuel tank area..so took more parts off (these things are tight)..and discovered fuel leaking from the front of the fuel tank, behind the oil tank. There is a kinda screw on cap thingy (not sure why, or what it's for!) about 3" across, and fuel wa leaking from it..we turned this cap off and the square shaped o-ring had a piece missing..probably from assembly new..anyways, hopefully just replace the o-ring and it will be ok!! I guess the same problom Jay had, Thanx for the info!

Good to know. Mine is at the dealer at the moment for a fuel leak. Mine was leaking where the sending unit goes into the tank, clutch side, right by the air box. Kept smelling fuel last season, but only when sitting in the garage. Finally just a couple weeks after I quit for the season the remaining fuel dumped out on it's own onto the floor, found the leak and didn't have to drain the tank for the summer. smile.gif
