I have a 93 tundra that I bought new, the track is shot and I have a 3/4" track and drivers off of a 03 scandic for a replacement. I belive that I will have to replace the drivers but is the drive shaft the same size or will I have to get real creative?

The new track is 3" shorter but dealing with that doesn't look bad.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

Your Tundra has a 1.97 pitch track and the Skandic track is a 2.52 pitch , meaning that you would need the appropriate drive axle , probably from a non reverse or RER touring . Lshobie has done some work in this vein , maybe he can add his findings ?

Kimpex makes a 139.5" track for the Tundra or at least they used to, but I see that you already have a track. The Kimpex tracks are high quality.

I was looking for springs and this page was on the way , it looks as though an inner drive and sprocket drive are available for the touring .

Would the sprocket fit the Tundra axle ? I will take a look at my SLE tonight ( internal drive ) to see how axles compare !

The tundra axle is about 1.1 inches or something like that - so check the width of your axle if you want to press on new sprockets. If the pitch is 2.52 then you will need to find a sprocket that will fit - you can't go very much larger that the stock tundra driver as there isn't much room in there. Kimpex makes some drivers as well, measure what you have and keep it close to stock.

Hi,

I wonder if the 26 sq in. less flotation will have a noticeable effect on performance. The stock 139.5x15" track is halfway between an 06 Tundra and an 07 Tundra in flotation (but the old style gets a little more track on the snow due to less suspension travel then the 06 with same size track). My 06 with stock track trenched considerably compared to my 94 Tundra or an 07 Tundra. But of course, some of that may have been due to strap adjustment and other factors. I know that several have swapped their 139.5" tracks out for a 136" track due to being able to get a deeper profile as well as used 136" tracks being easy to come by (I have the like new one in my barn that came off of my 06). The 136 is 3.5" shorter so you wonder if one 4" longer would fit -- i.e. a 144. I'm not sure my 94 track will ever wear out but if it does that would be a possibility. But then again a key benefit of the stock track is that it is very lightweight making it snappier than my 06 with the 144" track.

A crude measurement of the Touring axle (25' Stanley tape ) showed about 1 3/16" , the same as the axle from my 85 Skandic which is probably the same axle used in the Tundras . Mine are still under cover out doors so I can't verify at this time . I suspect that a drive sprocket change will get you rolling right_on.gif

Thanks for the info, the tundra is a '93 and the track is from an '03 scadik and the drivers I have are from a '06 renegade. After xmas I'll be doing a lot of measuring.

Happy Hollidays guys.
