Getting a new pair of goggles for this upcoming season and i'm wondering on what to get ? I know there are a few good brands out there and i was doing quite a bit of research. What do you guys suggest, 509, Scott, Oakley, or any others ? I'm looking for a good quality goggle that doesn't fog up and works good !

Josh.

My only experience is with the Scott 89XI turboflow LS. Great goggles, never fogged, and with that light sensitive lense I saw everything. The lens is amazing, it's got scott's amp blue tint in daylight, and it highlights even the smallest little bumps in the snow, and when the sun goes down the lens changes to a light yellow, almost clear tint to do the same. I loved those goggles, unfortunately they do not fit inside the opening of my new helmet, so I'm going to get a pair of Scott Voltage Pro Air's... They are a little smaller, fit in my new helmet, and I can get the LS lens for them...

My vote is for Scott..

O man chris had 50% off on Oakley goggles, i got mine with light blue iridium they is white with random designs.

Oakley is deadly, they never fog like i love them, bolle is very cool to and cheap i used them all last winter and are very reflective, which looks cool, only like $40 at Costco.
Koony
I like Oakley "O" Frames. They fit really well in a helmet and the face foam is dense so it doesn't shift around on your face. I also have Smiths and Spy. The Smiths are my least favorite. The frames and foam are soft and the lens is flimsy. The Spy's are real close in quality to the Oakley's.
mxzed600
I've only had experience with 509s and FXRs, both have never fogged on me, but the 509s are a better goggle, the tinted lense makes those sunny days easier to see, and the outside appearance is nice too, the chrome lenses looks mint.
skidoo/yamaha-guy
Scott 87 OTG Turboflows. I wear glasses and they NEVER fog up on me. They have the reddish tint but I never had a problem with night riding
tman_4
oakley o frames with the fire lenses. go onto oakley custom and you can make your own pair
Frankthetank
Scott light sensitive lenses like someone else said perfect in the day and clear at night couldn't ask for a better google.

X2, I love mine

Another vote for Scott xi with light sensitive lense. I've also worn Smith Warps, they arent bad. But i really like the fit of the scotts in my helmet (HJC). Turns out the other guys i ride with also wear the Scott's.

What brand helmet do you have?

Its a BRP Helmet. I got it from a guy that is a racer and he wore it once and went back to a different helmet. I think he used the Warps with it. For some reason I guess the goggle opening in the BRP Helmets are a little bit bigger than most others. That's what I heard though.

SPY goggles top all of them. IMHO

My new helmet is a BRP helmet(07 swarm with the white and orange honeycomb). Helmet fits me good, but the nose piece on the helmet is a little closer to my face than the Z1R I was using last year, thus the Scott 89xi does not fit very well. I just bought a pair of Scott Voltage Pro Air goggles today and they fit great, the Light Sensitive lens is on the way. As I said before I looked for days for a pair of Scott goggles that would fit, and had the light sensitive lens available. I can't see using any other lens as I like to go out in the afternoon and ride into the night, and I hate stopping in the middle of a ride to change goggles or lenses because my lens is too dark for night riding...
Swish88
I just ordered a set of these. We'll see how they are when they come in. They are snow specific.

Same here. Love my Scott goggles. The auto tint is awesome. I ran Oakley and Arnette but the Scott's are the best.

Can anyone elaborate on the turboflow's not fitting well inside your helmet like said earlier in this topic? I'm lookin into using them with an HJC but may just be safe and find a smaller Scott goggle, any thoughts?

I got a brand new pair of Scott 89XI Turbo's that are a very nice goggle, but didn't fit my helmet the right way. They are the light sensitive lenses and everything. If you are looking for some, let me know and we could work out a deal. I paid about $75 for them but I would sell them quite cheap. They are brand new and only been out of the box to check for fitment.

Let me know, also anyone else interested, let me know. PM's work good.

Oh yeah, let it snow. smile.gif

can you pm me a picture? will they fit a skidoo snowcross helmet?
ski-doo bandit
I'm a big fan of Smith for snowmobiling, and Scott for fourwheeling and the Dirt Bike! Just my experiences but very positve!

I have a Skidoo pro snowcross swarm helmet and the 89xi do not fit very well, that could be cause I've got a big melon, but they don't seem to fit good without my head in the helmet either....The Scott Voltage fit great even with my large dome in the lid....

ztrailblazer I don't think you'll have a problem with an HJC helmet, however for ANYONE looking for goggles I would HIGHLY suggest taking your helmet shopping with you and try the goggles on with the helmet to see how they fit. That's what I did with this new helmet and it worked out great for me. I would HATE to have bought the 89xi for this new helmet and find that the goggles I just paid a lot of hard earned money for are worthless to me...
rev2xheart
How about a large interior volume goggle for people that have to wear glasses underneath? I know some manufactures have otg goggles, but there really aren't that many to choose from.

I believe scott makes an 87 OTG that you can get the Light Sensitive lens for... I should invest in a pair of OTG goggles myself, but I always wear my contacts and RARELY leave the house with my specs on...

I have been trying to find the perfect goggle for my ski doo helmet, and I was about set on the spy soldiers, unfortunatly there arent many places in my area with snow goggles so I have been doing all of my looking online, but last night I saw the soldiers and they looked tiny so I dont know what to look at now. Has anyone tried these, not very spendy and they look nice - http://www.electricvisual.com/products/snow-goggles/all/ ... I want a nice fitting warm goggle that does NOT fog
Koony
I have the Spy Soldiers from a few years back. Your right they are a smaller goggle. They're designed for a snowboard helmet so the strap is a little shorter. I have used them but prefer not too on account of stretching the strap around an MX helmet.

509 sinister or aviatior's if yea got the big foing for sure

They did not fit well in my BRP helmet. I have heard though that the opening in BRP helmets is a little bigger than in others.

The opening in my BRP helmet although it does seem a little bigger compared to my Z1R, the nose piece is also a little closer to your face which is what causes the problems with the 89xi not fitting correctly...

The Scott Turbo Flow LS should work just fine with a HJC helmet. I have a HJC CL-X5 size large with Scott Turbo flow LS. The Scotts have a hard platic piece on the top edge of the frame that I left off and makes them fit a lot nicer and have had no issues. Do your self a favor and spend a few extra bucks on Quick Straps also. Another thing I found with most snowmobile goggles is that when riding in cold conditions the air coming through the foam vents is a little to cold for my liking and makes my eyes water. On these days I will stick a little tape over some of the foam vents to reduce the air flow. I keep the tape stuck under my visor and have it when I need.

I've heard of using tape to seal any gaps between helmet and goggles, but never to seal up goggle vents on a cold day, I might have to try that this year, thanks...

I love my provue's, they are awesome, I highly recommend them, never fog, fit great on my BRP snocross helmet. The clip-on tinted lenses are slick, takes 30 seconds to swap them out with another shade. you can actually easily put quick straps on them (like most), I still have no idea why 509 goggles have the 'permanent' strap.

I ride with the scott light senstive ones, they have ton of foam on the edges for a good seal. Trying new ones this year by zeal suppose to be top notch goggle.

Some good info on a few different brands guys, thanks alot ! I think i may go with a custom pair of Oakley's and see how they work, I've heard a lot of good things about them. And my second choice would be the 509's !

Well this is what i ended up with, hope they work good for the price tag on them !! wink.gif

I like the fitment of my 509s in my BRP helmet.

Cant beat the chrome either!

Nice goggles Josh. They should be great on sunny days.
SkiDooorNothin
I've ridden with two pair of Smiths, Oakley O Frames, Scott 89x, Spys, and 509's. 509's are way better for trail riding with snow dust, they don't get the icey build up inside. Smith's were the worst for that. I am going to get a pair of Scott Voltage Pros this year because of their great reviews - they can always be a back up pair.

So either 509's or Scott
snowmo8
Josh enjoy the oakleys man!

I know this has nothing to do with snow goggles but I wear Oakley Precription glasses and they are the best products ever! Their quality is second to none!
looks like some nice googles!

Pretty sure I am going to order a pair a Smith Snow Piston Sweat-X

spadoo
been using scotts forever, going to try the habervision with the fan in them . hope they work!!

Cant go wrong with the looks of the 509's? Just got mine so I have not used them yet but I like the way they look.

I like the fact that the 509's are made for use with an MX helmet. The Spy's and Oakleys are meant for snowboarding/skiing.

X2 on the Scott 89XI light sensitive. I just got the all black Doo MX helmet and yes, the opening is BIG. I'm a little worried cause the goggles don't seal to the sides of the opening. Gonna have to see how much wind gets in there. Don't want the sides of my head freezing up. glare.gif

The Crowbars and the O frames are MX goggles.
