Full Version: Throttle cable free-play?????

I took the throttle cable off the throttle block when I put my new riser on and when I was done and had it put back together, I noticed that when I pull the throttle wide open (with the "flipper"), I could pull an additional 3/32" (approx.) of cable out. Is this normal?

I didn't think to check it before I started so I'm not sure if I got the cable adjusted corrrectly or not. I remember reading about the factory setting not opening the throttle all the way but I thought the adjustment for that issue was to be done on the other end of the cable and not on the throttle block on the handlebars.

I would think a little slack would be desired to assure that the throttle isn't being applied without putting pressure on the loud handle but I just want to be sure. Any help is appreciated. biggrin.gif

Be careful. If you mess around with the throttle it may become difficult to start, or even require a new throttle body assembly!

I think mine has a touch of play in it. Not sure about opening full, it seems to haul just fine at full throttle.
