Friend of mine has a complete and very nice condition 77 RVCC 340. The only problem is that it does not have the original motor. We know the rarity of theses sleds and are curious of the value without the original 77 motor? I believe it has a 78 340 in it. It sure does rip!!

I read somewhere that only 125 were made. I must have read wrong.
moxymech1
250 units were produced which was the minimum needed to quailify for the stock racing class...

if you were refering to this site Bob's TNT Page i think it is an error,

Also member Drivebelt has number 161...

There is a theory out there...that they started at #80...a few factory race sleds have been found in the #80s, you'd think they would have them first...and none have been found below #80, if they are out there chime in...

I recently was told 125 American and 125 Canadian = 250 total

So despite what you have been told or quoted on the numbers produced, what did you determine it to be worth without the right motor in it? I would think without the right motor it wouldn't be that far off in price from a regular RV that someone transplanted a liquid motor or 503 fan in it since the main draw to the CC model is the power plant itself. I would think it has to be worth at least $2000 if it shows good and is in good presentable condition, maybe a bit more?

More information for all of you.....

Hello Friends...... I'm back from hibernation!!..LOL.....

I believe that from my research... that 200 total sleds where built..... Canada and USA.

I have been contacted from persons all over the globe... and the highest serial number I found was 161.

The lowest I heard of was # 0083 and from my research, that was Mike Trapps sled that was scrapped-totalled in the 80's down by the Twin Cities in Minnesota. I own that seat from Mike Trapps sled.... I also own serial number #0084, which was Stan Hayes 1977 RVCC sled. A good friend of mine in Duluth, his Dad owned all 3, 1977 RVCC race sleds at one time after the 1977 race season as this gentleman was very good friends with Lee Russel who was the Team Manager for the Blizzard Oil Team-Team Bomabardier from Eveleth-Virginia Minnesota...... The Duluth, RVCC for testing in 1976-77 serial number was # 0086. Engineer Gordy Radtke and Phil Mickelson used #86 for testing. Team Bomardier in the USA-Virginia MN.. had 2 RVCC's and Duluth had 1 for testing.... ....... All the sleds were sold when the gentleman above came down with brain cancer.... this took place around the late 70's-1980.... These are the only known Factory 1977 RVCC's in the USA...... keep in mind... Phil Mickelson went through all racers profiles and hand picked what racers got to purchase a 1977 RVCC for the USA..... The 1977 RVCC in Phils SKI DOO books show an RVCC that was from Valcourt. It was returned after is was displayed in the USA.... I do not know the serial number on that one.... but it is a little different from all of the other 77 RVCC's. Furthermore, I have seen many Canadian 1977 RVCC's and the hood vents are palced in different locations from the USA RVCC's. I have the original pics, not published, of Mike Trapps 1977 RVCC from the Minnesota Governors Cup Race from January 1977, 1 week prior to the I-500. Mike Trapp won that race....

What's it worth without the original Sno-pro engine..... At least 50% less or more........ The main value is in the engine.... The one RVCC that someone mentioned above for sale this spring was just sold for 3K to a friend on the board..... and I believe that it has the original motor as I ran the serial numbers this spring for the previous owner of that sled.... but I remember I thought that the cylinders had a later built casting numbers... 1977.....?????? which would still be authentic since Bombardier produced parts for the racers, etc......

From owning a very rare and complete 1977 RVCC, I think that your chassis is worth $1200-$1700. This is with regards to the transplanted engine in it. I have not placed a figure on My 1977 RVCC sled since it is the last know RVCC from the factory race team... in the USA...survivor...... the value of the sled is the race pedigree and who raced it......... just my .02 ...... Out of all the RVCC race sleds... including the Blizzard CC's.... I think the 1977 is the best Year since it has the most HP. The Racing governing body after 1977 made major changes in the HP requirements for (detuned) to 45HP then back up to 56HP in 1979. The 1977 RVCc, sno-pro engine produced 76-78 HP at 9600 rpm on the dyno stand...I was told this By Phil Mickelson when they ran these engines in the dyno test cell in Duluth, back in the day....

I was in error of the production numbers of the 1977 RV Cross Country. I previously stated that I thought 200 were made, but I believe that 125 were built. I believe that they started the limited edition run of these sleds at #0080...+/-.

It will be real quiet the next 6 months as Uncle Sam is sending me off to F-16 school for new aircraft that we are getting in Duluth....... I will chime in when I can... from Texas and Arizona....... You all take care..... I ship out in 2 1/2 weeks.... cool.gif

thanks,
