Hey - I just picked up a used 2001 Mini Z. It's in great shape and runs perfect, but the chain is dry as a bone, and the tensioner is all chewed up. I replaced the chain tensioner, and now I need to lube the chain really good. It still looks like it's in good shape or I'd just replace it. What chain lube do you guys recommend for the stock mini z chain?

I was told by a Cart guy to get some chain lube you can get at most small engine shops, graphite I believe. The other thing you can do is take the change off and soak it in motor oil overnight. Make sure you hang it up and let all the excess drip off, you don't want anything to get in the clutch.

amsoil mp/hd is my choice.

I use chainsaw bar oil because it has anti-fling. I don't know if this is recomended or not, but it works for me. I think it stays on the chain better than motor oil. And I already have some around.

should work fine without issue recommended or not. the mp-hd has a clining property to it also. I have it around for motorcycle chain ,works well on the trailer ball as well.

I like the hitch ball idea!

I bought some Honda aerosol chain lube, and it's way too wet and "flingy". I'm going to try the chainsaw oil idea, I have a ton of that. Thanks for all of your help.

Try some belray- super clean chain lube. I have used several cans of it on my bike and it DOES NOT fling off at all. You just need to let it set up for twenty minutes.
