Can you use 70w90 syn oil in a chaincase? I am looking for a cheaper route than the oil ski doo sells for $20 a bottle.

You can run whatever you want. BRP recommends a chaincase oil. You can get a 12-ounce bottle of Amsoil or Klotz for less than $10.00. You only need 8.5 oz in the chaincase.

I have been running 85w90 Synthectic Gear oil for Semi Truck Rear Axles for Years with Zero Issues, and the Best thing is the Price, We get it in 55g Drums here at work, so they will never miss 8.5oz once a Year

That's for the mineral based oil, not the synthetic. I might try using that instead since it's a fraction of the price.

12oz Amsoil Chaincase 2000 oil is 100% synthetic and only costs about $6.00 a bottle depending on the dealer you buy it from.
