Did anyone changed the bottom gear on a Renegade 1200 2009 from 45 to 43 ? Are you happing with the 43 gear performance ? Did you keep the same chaine ? Would you recommanded this move without anything else ?

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, I replaced the 45 gear for the 43 on a GTX LE ( one of my friend ), we kept the same chain
9000 km. to date, no problems.

But, keep in mind it,s a trail sled only, if you often ride back-country, I,m not sure you need a 43
gear.

We also put much heavier lever pins in the drive pulley.

For 2010, BRP replaced the two springs in the drive pullies. combined with a less agressive helix
angle.

The driven pulley spring used on the 2010 models is the same that was used on the earlier
LEGEND V1000 driven pulley ( a little bit softer than the one used on 09 models )

The drive pulley spring tension is 130-200 on the 2010 models ( 130-290 on 09 models )

Personnally, I would ride the first 500 k,s before making any modifications to the drive system,
you will have a better idea after that if you want to do something.

J,espere que ca vous aide, au plaisir.... a la prochaine....

Snowbomber.

Did you notice any improvements in top speed with the 43?

Changes in gas mileage?

How heavy of pin weights did you use? What is stock weight?

Thanks
SNOW BOMBER

For the top speed, the owner told me he saw 190 k,s on the digital display 3 or 4 times, on
long, hard-pack straights.

For fuel economy, i would say near 15% improvement.

The std. pin weight is 18.5 gr. he now runs with 21.5 gr. with the stock spring, clickers at

Maybe with a spring a little harder like 130-320 would help ?
SNOW BOMBER

You,re dead on,

130-320 spring with the clickers at pos,2
SNOW BOMBER

I forgot to mention; for an 09 model.

130-320 spring--- clickers at pos 2---- std. pin weight

Would you keep the 18.5 gramme pin with the 130/320 spring or with the 21.5 gramme on a Renegade with de 43 gear ?
SNOW BOMBER

For back-country riding, yes, I would keep the 18.5 gr. pin weight to begin, then ad 1 gr. at a time
if necessary.

Some owners have used this spring all winter long, last season, and were very happy with this set-up.
